Etymology Theory Edit
As part of an obsessive desire, I'm trying to find out what all the unusual names in FF4 mean. We know the fiends and several other bosses are named after Malebranche, demons in The Divine Comedy (Dante's Inferno,) But beyond all other names, Damcyan is the most akward. So I looked to religion (as its the source of many names already.)
I found that the mother deity from Babylonian myths is named "Damkina." This is far and away the best explination for Damcyan's name Ive been able to come up with. Not only does it sound similar, look similar, and spelled in a similar way (with variants on the same line as the Fiends mentioned previously), but it also fits into the theme of religious named things.
It would be highly unlikely for so many coincidental similarities to actaully be coincidence. Thoughts? 22.214.171.124 02:40, September 6, 2011 (UTC)
