The only serious definition of what a "Final Fantasy" item is is if it has the words "Final Fantasy" in the title. They obviously chose to exclude it for some reason. I say "Related games", like Vagrant Story.
It came out everywhere yesterday for XBLA. I was thinking about getting the WiiWare version when that comes out but not anymore since it's more expensive. XBLA you get all 300 stages for 10 bucks while the WiiWare version is split into three and you have to pay 10 bucks for each one meaning a totally of 30 dollars AND they removed some of content for the WiiWare version like some of the classes.

Definitely a related game. It appears that the parts are a little remixed on the WiiWare version, as the Wii's R2 contains content from the iPhone's/Xbox's W3. Also, a PS3 release is planned.

Does anyone know more about the PS3 release?
Master Conjurer — (talk) 16:30, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Gameplay wise, the PSN version is identical to the Xbox 360 version, with minor visual upgrades. It was released simultaneously on the Xbox and PS3 in Japan. I had assumed it would do the same here, but S-E has unfortunately not given a US/EU PSN release date yet. There is a demo out there, however, so we know it's coming sometime.
XBLA you get all 300 stages Wait, what? I only have 12 stages (4 for each game style). O_o
Master Conjurer — (talk) 17:47, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
I remember the iPhone version's official page saying 120 stages. Someone might check into that.
That was most certainly a typo. There are only 12 stages and the game makes no mention of any others.

I'm looking at the CRYSTAL DEFENDERS page on iTunes, and it's saying, "Players can enjoy over 300 stages of action in one of three different game versions." Either the XBL versions are sold separately, or you're missing something. EDIT: You may have gotten the demo, or "Lite version." It only unlocks about twenty waves.
Oh, I think I know what's going on. First off, I know I have the full game. I paid money for it after all and can unlock achievements (trials lock achievements). Second, when it says 300 stages of action, I believe it's counting each wave of enemies as a stage. If this is the case, then 12 (the number of levels) x 30 (the maximum number of waves a level) equals 360. Viola, "over 300" stages. However, in reality there are only 12 levels.
Reception[]
GC: 1/10, I lold. ILHI 19:23, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- Haha. Is the game really that bad? ScatheMote 19:27, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, sounds right. I play it and all I can think of is "This would be pretty impressive if I wasn't playing it on a state of the art machine". SE could have done so much more to make it better. Let's hope they treat The After better. Diablocon 19:36, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- IGN were kinder and gave it 5.5/10. A lot of other places five it ~5. But GC tend to use their 1 to 10 more widely. Most games IGN review will get 5+. Team Xbox gave the game 4.8. ILHI 19:39, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- What do you expect? Its a Tower Defense game, which are never that great to begin with. --BlueHighwind ツ 19:45, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- People need to keep in mind that, even if they get it for the 360 or whatever, it's a cellphone game. Cell. Phone. Game. //masterConjurer (Talk) 18:19, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
- What do you expect? Its a Tower Defense game, which are never that great to begin with. --BlueHighwind ツ 19:45, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- Exactly, so they should have put more effort into it when porting it to an actual console. Diablocon 18:27, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
- There's a huge difference between porting and remastering. For instance: FFIV on PS1 = Port, while FFIV on DS = Remastering. Just because the PS1 was capable of more than that doesn't mean it was yet time to change the game yet. This is a new game. We can't already have five versions flying about. It would detract from the sales of each. //masterConjurer (Talk) 18:30, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

I don't know how it's happened, but there is no sense whatsoever to be made of the release date row in the infobox. Can somebody who knows which date is which please clarify it?
-- |
I don't understand it either. I'll just clarify the PSN release date. The rest I don't know.
It's already out on PSN in europe, I'm sure. Since the PSN site updates on Thursdays, I think the release day may have been the 23rd - 16:01, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't know it was out in the EU PSN... I'll get it tomorrow, I think... Anyway, I have it on my iPod Touch and it's pretty good...Cloudintheskies 14:49, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- US release is not there for PSN release....anyone know what happened?
Shelved project?[]
As a matter of speculation, it appears as if this game were made years ago, specifically for the PS1. Upon observation, everything about this game screams "PS1", from the character models, to the sounds and overall graphics. In fact, the PS3 version of CD has the actual game imposed over a larger screen with more modern, 7th-gen graphics (reminiscent of emulators). Could it be that this game was produced years ago, and shelved until its PSN/LIVE/WiiWare/iOS release? Haveanicedays 10:25, December 19, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah. Because Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is from 1996. - Henryacores^ 20:44, December 19, 2010 (UTC)
- Does this mean Megaman 9 was originally developed for the NES? DoreikuKuroofangu - Visit the Soul Shrine! 20:46, December 19, 2010 (UTC)
- TA2 wasn't it? It can't possibly have been a project for the PS1 game since the graphics and models are based on a game released post-PS1 era. 80.42.245.216 23:21, December 19, 2010 (UTC)
