WHERE AND WHEN[edit source]

You are of course aware of the fact that it is merely a formal title for media bearing the FFVII name, and that everything has to be bought seperatly, right? --Hecko X 20:05, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
He is? Would be awesome if everything could be bought in a single compilation set. That WOULD cost some money, but it would still be cool. --Auron Kaizer 20:08, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Thats what I was expecting, thank you...-Parad0x
Please, for the love of sanity, don't contribute to the "Let's delay Chrono Break and make more FFVII sequels" fund. Thank you. --Crazyswordsman 22:58, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
I'll eat my hat if it is ever released. Same thing with anything else but Star Wars games from LucasArts. --Auron Kaizer 18:39, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I love the compilation, i love VII, Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis core looks ecxellent too. But i think they are stretching it too far. Personally i feel they should release all their known projects, one after DOC to explain Genesis' return and, if they want to, a VII remake though that isn't deperate.

the Compilation of Cs[edit source]

you guys notice that the titles of most of the games in this compilatiion have alot C words within them, i just realized this... FFVII:BC, FFVII:CC, FFVII:AC, FFVII:DC... SEE the Cs, i know this is completely arbitrary Phade Paradox 03:16, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

New games:[edit source]

Zack fair.jpg

It definitely should. This was actually confirmed by Nomura in an interview, it's not speculation (except the Endless Crisis hoax obviously). Fire 2 13:37, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Buying the Good Stuff?![edit source]

Right. The last time I ever saw a copy for Final Fantasy VII (tm) was in a gameing store called 'Game X-change' in Paris, Texas about two or three years ago. It sold out pretty quickly, as you can guess. What I am wondering, is this: Does anyone know of- and can tell me about- a place where I can actually buy FFVII? And I don't mean Ebay or some internet place where the game is probibly not even inside the caseing- I'm tslking about an actual store or something. I once owned FFVII, but it actually got stolen when my house was robbed. o.O

So, I'd apreciate the help in locateing a place. 01:56, 14 June 2009 (UTC) This topic was brought to you by the letter 'D' for DIE!!!!!! It was laso brought to you my me, The Forgotten one.

Playstation Network[edit source]

not sure if it's a remake of FFVII, but i just recieved the newletter from SE, and they state that FFVII is available on Playstation Network, for PS3 and PSP. thought i might add this here. --Sketa 12:19, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

It's an exact copy of the PS1 version. It still asks you to change discs-- although you have to do something else to get it to continue to the next disc.  ILHI 13:01, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Reminiscence[edit source]

Final Fantasy VII isn't part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII[edit source]

the series is entirely based on sequels and prequels of FF7, but ff7 isn't included. but rather its the series that inspired the game. 19:43, June 18, 2014 (UTC)

That is a good point. Currently it is like that in all the nav templates as well.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:10, June 18, 2014 (UTC)

2017 Finland Nomura Interview[edit source]

This needs updating because contradictory statements have been made since that 2017 interview. I'm not sure if the Finnish translation was off or Nomura was confused about the question on releasing a HD collection of the previous Compilation, however the Remake has been stated at least twice to be using material and continuity from the Compilation of FFVII as recently as 2019.

Kitase said on the official FFVII Remake twitter

"After the original FFVII, we created the Compilation project, containing several continuations. And in Crisis Core we depicted the war with Wutai. So we worked in some of the lore of the Compilation in order to make the back story for Avalanche more realistic. This is one example of how we added depth to them for the remake."

Then Nomura in his July 2019 interview with Famitsu magazine he stated himself:

"Settings established in the FFVII Compilation works are newly incorporated and the story has been delved more deeply into."

So the info on this page has been contradicted in subsequent, more recent interviews regarding the FFVII Remake's connection to the Compilation.Makoeyes987 (talk) 06:15, February 21, 2020 (UTC)

Yeah a lot of this indeed true, and is proven in the Remake's opening dialogue cutscene with Heidegger and President Shinra mentioning the original Avalanche led by Elfee and Fuhito from Before Crisis. --Miphares (talk) 09:21, February 21, 2020 (UTC)

Officially a part of the Compilation[edit source]

So it's a...compilation complication, but the gist is that Remake is now officially considered the latest part of the Compilation. [Link to the interview] where Tetsuya Nomura clarifies and confirms. As such, the page will need to reflect that. I'll let you guys fix it, though if it goes unchanged for a few days I'll step in. --NVM021 (talk) 14:21, April 30, 2020 (UTC)

The idea might have started as a part of the Compilation, but there's nothing to indicate it still is. If that interview is all there is to it, it is not a part of the Compilation. JBed (talk) 16:54, April 30, 2020 (UTC)
Also worth of note is that the Final Fantasy VII series Special Book states that games are part of the Compilation when they are--which it does for the four Compilation titles. Its page on Remake makes no mention of it. And released with a Compilation-themed design tote bag that does not include any part of Remake. JBed (talk) 17:03, April 30, 2020 (UTC)

Holy shit. I still haven't changed my opinion, the Compilation is a rigid thing and if that comment in that interview is all you've got it is not part of the Compilation. But holy shit: when they reprinted On the Way to a Smile they made it the 5th Compilation entry.

That makes them calling the Remake a Compilation entry more likely. But that's not what the interview said. Edit: Actually, they've called it the 5th Compilation entry for a while. It's just that no one knew about it. And they hardly even mention it anywhere... hmm...

Edit2: Okay, so it turns out SE's use of "Compilation" isn't always rigid. Lost Episode used to get called Compilation before the 10th Anniversary Ultimania. But at least 10th Anniversary Ultimania decided to set thing straight and number the four entries that make up the Compilation, right?

Then the OWS anthology book came out, and even though the Revised Edition didn't mention it, they were clear about it being the fifth in the marketing though.

Well, the Final Fantasy VII series Special Book clearly says Crisis Core is the final Compilation entry. -_- JBed (talk) 19:36, April 30, 2020 (UTC)

I've been reading on the Japanese internet that some games are considered to be in the "Rebirth of Compilation" (リバース オブ コンピレーション). In this sub-series is Lost Episode, Advent Children Complete, and some ports of Before Crisis. Of course, I can't find this term from SE's sites anywhere, although in fairness most of them from that era no longer exist (also some are flash sites, which might as well not exist). I found myself at this article which explains that they used the term at a closed presentation. I'm sure they used it at other times, but no other info site has cited their source. JBed (talk) 22:57, April 30, 2020 (UTC)

Create a separate Final Fantasy VII series page[edit source]

Rather than treat this page as the Final Fantasy VII series page, I think the broader Final Fantasy VII series should have its own page. The Compilation being treated as one of two sub-series of that, with the other being the as-of-yet unnamed saga around Final Fantasy VII Remake (which won't get a page yet until we know what it's called). This allows us to include series entries that are not Compilation entries, and is better for organization. Thoughts?--Magicite-ffvi-ios.png Technobliterator TC 15:30, June 9, 2020 (UTC)

That would be an improvement. The FFVII "series" is still ongoing but the Compilation is finished.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 17:22, June 9, 2020 (UTC)
