Brunhild?[]

Red13
The only katakana near Sazh's name and kanji used for summons in this article is ブリュソヒルデ, which reads "buryusohirude"... Whatever that means :P MMLN メーマウリアン 14:18, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
We're missing an "S". What's the source for this? - Henryacores^ 15:56, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
The same scan that revealed Fang and Bahamut. Magugag 16:04, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
http://www.ffring.com/news/FFXIII-Oerba-Yun-Fang-en-images-EDITE-bf93b24a100e6.html It's in french... to see the scan, click on the picture in middle ;) MMLN メーマウリアン 16:11, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
On this picture very similar kana was translated as Brunhild already http://www.japanator.com/tuesday-otaku-debate-sdf-vs-white-base-vs-exelion-vs-brunhilde--9334.phtml so it is highly possible that it's Brunhilde for real :P MMLN メーマウリアン 18:39, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
The kana given for Sazh's Eidolon's name are romanized as "buryunhirude", which is usually spelled "Brunhilde" in English.
lol yeah, ofc you're right, i do not know why the hell i did mistaken 'n' with 'so' O.o MMLN メーマウリアン 22:15, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
I found a Wikipedia article on Brynhildr because I had no bloody clue what it was supposed to be! Briefly glancing over it, it looks like she's a figure in Norse mythology, tagging along with the other FF favorites Odin and Sleipnir. Since Odin is Lightning's eidolon and Brynhildr is Sazh's, I wonder if the two will have some sort of connection? Violetmage♥22:53, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
And here's another Wikipedia article on Muspell, Brynhildr's special attack. Violetmage♥ 22:56, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/103/1034928p1.html, the same English article that reveals Oerba Yun Fang as a playable character, notes the summon's name as "Byrnhildr", with an "r" at the end. What is the rationale for removing the r? 8bit 16:29, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Ask the guy who moved the page. I'm curious myself. Drake Clawfang 16:30, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
My guess would be because most translated Norse names remove the r at the end. For instance, Surtr is usually called Surt, Brunhildr is usually called Brunhild, and Muspellheimr is called Muspellheim. Magugag 21:25, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
This spelling is just a place-holder anyway, until we find out the one they use in the game. SamSandy 20:27, October 16, 2009 (UTC)
The official spelling has been revealed in screenshots on IGN. The proper spelling is Brynhildr. Magugag 20:57, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
I added the aforementioned screens that confirm her name's spelling to the article. SamSandy 21:45, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

Gender[]

How do we know Brynfdshijklafldr is a girl? -Azul (talkcontribs) 21:53, November 26, 2009 (UTC)

The face structure, the high heels, the myth she comes from, the fact that she use lipstick(apperently). [1]

Wouldn't brynhildr be an "it" in this case, being an eidolon? MadHatter1284 14:37, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

  • Odin and Alexander are definitely male, Shiva is definitely female, and Bahamut is almost certainly male. Brynhildr is female in her mythological origins, and Hecatoncheir is probably male according to its mythology.

Trivia section[]

Since Paramina thinks it should stay can someone please explain how on earth Brynhildr resembles Shemhazai, other than the fact that they're both sort of red and supposedly female? Brago-77 22:18, January 22, 2010 (UTC)

I wasn't being adamant that it stayed, I just thought it should be discussed before removed - I was also slightly suspicious because you're a relatively new editor and we tend to get a lot of weird edits, apologies, Brago. - Paramina 23:08, January 22, 2010 (UTC)
No worries, I completely understand. I know how it gets around here especially with XIII right around the corner. Brago-77 23:18, January 22, 2010 (UTC)
What about the fact that she has the same "horns" as Ifrit and they're both fire elemental? I figured that'd be something notable. PondTheGreat 15:00, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Split?[]

This applies to Hecatoncheir (Final Fantasy XIII boss) as well - essentially, should their battle information be placed on this page or on another (ie. Brynhildr (boss) and "Hecatoncheir (Final Fantasy XIII boss)")? --Adonzo 09:04, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

Split them. Doreiku Kuroofangu 09:19, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

Why did Brynhildr get her own page?[]

Just wondering, seeing as for example Odin has his info on Odin (Final Fantasy XIII). This also means that Brynhildr has duplicate info on two pages, Eidolon (Final Fantasy XIII)#Brynhildr and this page. http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af293/DilsDileva/GoldEggCenturion.png DilsDileva 17:02,6/9/2012

Odin has his own page, but it's a parent page, and just summarizes information; the full list would be too long on his actual page, it'd clutter it unnecessarily. If Brynhildr had more appearances, these tables would probably have to go as well, but right now, she doesn't really have that many. So, it's no big deal to put the information on her page.
