ADB doesn't have that transition/loading screen. Think FFXII battle system on ADB, it's the perfect example}}

If anyone asks about where Command Synergy Battle comes from: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Csb.jpg -- Xenol 18:52, 15 April 2009

Formulas?

ACRudeBox
Like what formulas? I can't think of any that affect specifically the battle system. The formulas are on the stat pages and Attack and Magic (Command) and Summon (Command) etc. pages.Keltainentoukokuu 03:01, September 22, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu
There's formulas and statistics that define how the battle system works, such as in FFVII where there's a constant global timer going on, which also affects statuses and other such things. Check the FFVII Party Mechanics guide for what I'm talking about on that bit. It's technical info that probably nobody will care to read here of course (and I dunno if Terrence would want that here anyways...), but it's something I thought I'd bring up. Xenomic 19:35, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
Oh yeah. FFVIII has a timer thing too that counts how often Angelo comes and stuff. If it's straight-copied from a FAQ (a list, a table, or a mathematical formula), then let's put a reference from where it is. But if it's "just" info, then nobody owns it. Just gotta "put it in your own words" and not just copy it. If the battle system page gets redone as suggested below, then there could be more room to make it more in-depth.Keltainentoukokuu 00:31, September 23, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu
I'm pretty sure every game has its own formula, since I know FFVI also uses a timer for statuses and stuff too. Though with some of these faqs, not sure if its just the author's terminology that's being used with some of these, or actual in-game data descriptions with some of the things in there. Ah well I suppose on that bit~
I know this is the wrong section for this, but I agree that they could probably be given separate pages too. Much like how Slots and Mix have their own pages for various stuff. Though now I'm curious as to how the formula for FFX's ATB system works...would be interesting to read that I think~ Xenomic 00:35, September 23, 2010 (UTC)
You're right about the terminology. Largely official terms don't exist I bet, because you're not supposed to view the info. I have put a reference after the first time "made-up terminology" is mentioned in the Cait Sith Slots section, but dunno if that is the "right" way to do it. I say, though, if someone has a problem let's alter it/remove it then; that's how wiki works right, you can always fix it later if you do it wrong.Keltainentoukokuu 00:56, September 23, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu
I suppose that's how we'll have to go about doing so~ As for rewording things from faqs, that should be somewhat obvious I would think lol. Then again, sometimes that's harder than it appears~ Xenomic 01:25, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

Rework

I want to suggest something because I don't like this article. However I don't know how we should do it. Articles usually aren't very good unless we have an "Appearances" section, because from this article you can't tell how each battle system is different. And do note, two Active Time Battle games can have very different Battle Systems.

I suggest we make articles for each individual battle system, Active Time Battle, Real Time Battle. On these articles (which are {{main}}ed here) we have Appearances sections that tells the reader exactly how the battle system works in that game. I mean, take a look at "Conditional Turn-Based", that's just a blanket term for an order not necesarilly giving each unit an equal amount of attack opportunities. But it has nothing to do with the FFX substitute system, which is a very important part of the battle system. We have no place to mention this.

Furthermore, I think we should create an entire "Battle" template. We already have {{Battle}} for something completely different which makes it annoying. But there are so many elements to a battle. I should probably make a forum because maybe here isn't the best place for the entire structure of a section on the wiki. 88.108.112.5 13:43, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah makes sense. Battle System is more than how it is defined who gets their turn and when. You should put your suggestion in the forum.Keltainentoukokuu 00:32, September 23, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu
I guess the FFT section of Charge Time is very much defining what should be covered in a battle system article. -- Inpursuit 04:32, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

ATB & ADB

¿Which is the difference between them?--Signed: Me. ¿Problem? Write here 16:57, March 15, 2011 (UTC)

ATB applies to battles where the party is taken to a closed arena, where ADB happens right in the field. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon BSA 17:28, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
