Location[]
The article claimed that Banora is somewhere beyond Kalm, on the Midgar continent. That is very much impossible, for various reasons.
1. First and foremost it's not on the Midgar continent. It's on the northern continent, probably somewhere around Bone Village and the Forgotten Capital (the latter is more likely). I would suggest it much closer to the Northern Crater were it not for the clear differences in climate. (I don't remember from playing Final Fantasy VII if there were non-wintery conditions at the top of the continent)
2. The Great Cavern of Wonders missions (9-#-#). The very first mission (9-1-1) informs you that [ShinRa] has "unearthed a subterranean den near the great northern cave [crater]". The optional boss with Minerva (mission 9-6-6), CLEARLY takes place within the Depths of Judgement in Banora (the area with a save point, waterfall, four goddess materia, and LOVELESS - Prologue).
[1] A video showing the battle with Minerva, where she appears right in front of the lake underneath the waterfall. This makes it apparent that the subterranean den The Great Cavern of Wonders makes mention of is underneath Banora (or at least in the general area).
3. The WEAPON easter egg (see below) corroborates the already strong evidence of Banora being on the northern continent. Banora has to be considerably close to the Northern Crater for Emerald WEAPON to emerge from the Crater from it's resting place in Banora.
4. Being close to the Forgotten Capital, the city of Ancients, and the Northern Crater (where the Lifestream is pooling) it offers a possible explanation to Dumbapples. With the lifestream possible constantly cycling through the northern crater area, this unpredictable flow of the lifestream could be the reason why the Banora White blooms at random times. This is, of course, merely speculative.
5. Bone Village and Banora Village. The names are very similar and may be so because of their close proximity. Again, speculative. Senjek bohmet 12:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
That is why in the Crisis Core Ultimania, and the Crisis Core Complete Guide, it clearly shows that Banora is listed as being on the Mideel continent.
HAHAHA!! You're endless rambling text only disproves your argument. Its not in on the Northern Continent! Emerald WEAPON came out of Mideel following the Ultimate WEAPON (play FFVII - I swear to Christ, nobody plays that game anymore). If Emerald is around this village, then this village is around Mideel.
Perhaps it is you who should play Final Fantasy VII again. The WEAPONs emerge from the Northern Crater when Sephiroth summons Meteor. Here is a link to the FMV cutscene of not only Ultimate WEAPON clearly emerging from the Northern Crater, but if you look closely, carefully, and maybe even frame-by-frame, you can see Emerald and Ruby WEAPON too. As for Banora being located on Mideel, I concede the point. Since Mideel is at the bottom of the map I overlooked it, forgetting that on a global map, Mideel would be much closer to the Northern Crater then. My logic is still sound, and my reasoning of placing on the northern continent was much better then concluding Banora being near Midgar.Senjek bohmet 20:20, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I was just wondering about this when I happenned across this page, and I have to say, I agree with Blue. I always thought Banora was around Mideel somewhere.
Whoever started this has some really...Interesting ideas. 1)The use of FFVII location is speculative at best since Benora had not yet been invented. And if it had been on the crater(the crater was there before there were people) you would have seen it in the background. 2)If they had just discovered the cave, why was the Warehouse already built over it. Plus, all mission areas are recyled from in game areas. 3)An easter egg is not proof. It is excess information pressent to entertain observent players. 4)Life stream is everywhere. When Mideel is destoyed a huge pool of teal is visable where the city used to be. 5)Similar names mean nothing. My name is similar to a girls name but if you ever met me you'd know I wasn't a girl.
Mideel doesn't work very well either. Banora was fertile(meaning it had lots of Lifestream) while Mideel is surrounded by wasteland(grey ground).

Looking at all those palm trees, it's hard to believe Mideel isn't arable land. Besides, I think the most damning point was overlooked. It is stated that the Lifestream is very close to the surface near Mideel. If you've played Crisis Core, think back to the scene right before Zack enters the Banora Underground. It's hard to explain, but the Lifestream is everywhere; you can see it in the air, rising from the ground, etc.
Well really it's 'cause Mideel is such an out of the way place that building two dinky towns would be impractical.
Emerald WEAPON[]
On the cliff that takes you above the lake you can get a nice view of the waterfall and a large crystallized Lifestream. Behind this huge rock is none other then the dormant Emerald WEAPON. The image is a pale green, and while you can't see much, his shoulders and the four circular indents on his shoulders are very clear (you'll have to move around and adjust the camera angle, but you can see all four. A nice little easter egg and another supporting argument to the location of Banora. I believe this easter egg is mentioned elsewhere in Crisis Core articles, but I'm hesitant to include it in the article, as I'm not sure if it belongs. Senjek bohmet 12:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
actually that didn't really look much like WEAPON to me. Besides we already saw the dormant WEAPONs in the Promised Land.
Banora Farmer Genesis[]
The hair style and even color are all wrong. Is this an official image of Genesis as a farmer? They look nothing alike.75.42.218.94 20:37, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
That is Genesis - that picture is from the Crisis Core Ultimania which has labled under the picture "Genesis as a Banora Farmer" - or something along those lines.'.
Really. It is more likely a farmer NPC on account of his lack of a face. Important characters always have faces.

Look closely, and you can see a mouth and a nose. The eyes are hidden under the brim of his hat. Either way, there's no mistaking that hair. It's Genesis.
- It most definitely does NOT say that it's "Genesis as a farmer" in the Ultimania. The image is titled Banora Villager (バノーラの村人). The caption says, "When development first started, it was planned that the residents of Banora Village would appear as Genesis Copies." (開発当初は、バノーラ村の住人がジェネシスコピーとして登場ずる案もあったようだ。) FF-Suzaku 10:39, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- In an official Walkthrough book I found at Barnes & Nobles, it doesn't say that picture is of Genesis. Just "Banora Farmer". --BlueHighwind ツ 12:13, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Name[]
Why is the page named "Banora Village?" Replaying Crisis Core now the town seems to just be "Banora". Doreiku Kuroofangu 19:30, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Banora was built to conceal Emerald Weapon[]
Apparently this is the case. And many eyebrows were raised this day. JBed (talk) 22:27, February 15, 2016 (UTC)
