Article rename?[edit source]

If we do not add a mention of his true name in the opening paragraph, should perhaps this article be renamed to Ardyn Lucis Caelum? It has been over a month and a half, so the time to hide spoilers is coming to a close Primarch Dysley (talk) 17:50, January 15, 2017 (UTC)

We don't ever stop hiding spoilers... The name depends on what his name is given as in the game. If a character has "secret identities" then they are mentioned in the articles though. If a character changes their name then that is their new "real" name, too.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 02:21, January 16, 2017 (UTC)
Even though he refers to his real name being "Ardyn Lucis Caelum" in game. All official material material/material in game refers to him as Izunia still. Granted. as a wiki, hiding spoilers is common courtesy. Rather if the game if a month old, or 10 years. But, if it was something as big as a separate name. He'd be refereed to as such in the article name.--Rainy 06:27, January 16, 2017 (UTC)
His other name should be in the infobox though, even if spoiler (didn't look if it is or not). Spoiler infobox is too bad but not so easy to get around. But like in ending credits etc he'd be called Izunia, so I think that is the proper name for him. The common rule I think we've been following is to use the name they are generally known by (Lightning rather than "Claire", Balthier rather than "Famfram Bunansa"). When talking about them in the context of gameplay then use the default name they have while in battle, but I think Dagger/Garnet is the only one that has that distinction.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:39, January 16, 2017 (UTC)

2000[edit source]

Where are we getting that he's 2000 years old from? I don't recall that being said in game, and I'm seeing no source here listed for his age. There's no way in hell he could logically be only 2000 QHRvRICdalurIA (talk) 00:50, January 31, 2017 (UTC)

2000 years ago was when the astrals are said to have fought alongside the kings of Lucis against darkness.
Cosmogony: "The earliest accounts of covenants are found in ancient times dating back to the time of the Cosmogony, some two millennia ago. According to such tomes, the rites are a means by which the Oracle summoned forth the gods, that she might make the will of mortals known to the divine."
It was after this that the astrals are supposed to have given the kings the Crystal: "There once lived a man, born to a mortal but blessed with powers divine. Conjuring a collection of glaives he dispelled the darkness plaguing our star. As a reward for his efforts, the god granted him a holy Stone—the Crystal, which he was to guard at all costs, for it would one day choose a King to see us through the coming disaster and lead us to salvation."
The kings' lineage is 113 kings so pretty long, but maybe they usually have their heir when they are in their early twenties? If a new king is born every 20 yrs it'll be like ~2200 yrs. Regis was 30 when Noctis was born though.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 03:19, February 1, 2017 (UTC)

Occupation/ Affiliations[edit source]

I am stating this based on the numerous edits in the information box about Ardyn’s occupation and affiliation. At first his affiliation only said Nifleheim and his occupation was Chancellor, but why would someone remove Lucis and King as former affiliation and occupation respectively? In the main story and Episode Ignis, Ardyn is already said to have been king of Lucis and Somnus, his brother, stole the throne after the Crystal denied him as the Chosen King since he became a living embodiment of the Starscourge. Wouldn’t it make sense to have his former occupation in the info box? Now someone has blocked public edits to page, for presumably that minor edit. Even his biography states the obviousness of his Lucian roots and former royalty.

It is a major spoiler for those who have not be completed FFXV up to chapter 13. We tend to avoid spoilers in infoboxes. No more, no less. --Miphares (talk) 20:26, October 27, 2018 (UTC)
You can have spoilers in the infobox, but Ardyn was never actually a king and has not been associated with Lucis. That was all his brother. Ardyn considers the throne stolen not because he lost his kingdom, but because his coronation was prevented. He was cast down and became ostracized while Somnus went on to start his kingdom, and thus became known as the Founder King whereas Ardyn became known as the "darkness of legend" or "the Immortal Accursed".Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:45, October 27, 2018 (UTC)
Now that’s where your wrong. When Noctis was being absorbed into the crystal, Ardyn said he was the savior in Lucis who cured its people of the Starscourge and in Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition, the extended dialogue in the final battle has Noctis say Ardyn was a kind and noble king, plus, Ardyn is under the Category of Kings. Now Ardyn edits are limited to Fandom members only, so you can change if you want. I know Ardyn was a king and whoever public user edited his page may have had the best interests in supplying information to the page, but not anymore unless that user becomes an official user. But it might change, since Ardyn is getting his own DLC episode. Wouldn’t it be a spoiler for whoever sees that someone put 30 years old on Noctis’ info box, since as you said some haven’t played the game to know about the plot information, suchas, the 10 year timeskip or for whoever random person without knowledge of FFXV finds a link with Gentiana’s name and they see her true form Shiva? 17:23; October 27, 2018 (CT)
Here is Ardyn's bestiary: The man who was to be the first king of Lucis. Assuming the burden of the Starscourge borne by his subjects corrupted the Chosen's body, causing the Crystal to deny his ascendance to the throne.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 01:38, October 28, 2018 (UTC)
I took the protection off but please don't add "King" to occupation, and I don't think Lucis should be an affiliation either since it was started by Somnus when Ardyn was already exiled. In the Pocket Edition, Noctis does say Ardyn should return to how he was before the Starscourge infection to "a kind and noble king", but Ardyn was never king. Ardyn then mocks him for not knowing anything about him. Seems like a weird choice to include a mention of "king" in it, but it being wrong may be why it wasn't in the full game. The Pocket Edition seems to have some stuff that was decided to be removed, or didn't make it in (like Gladio hitting on Sania was made for the game, but was not used until Pocket Edition), so it may be that the Pocket Edition did not "add" dialogue, but used an earlier version. has a good resource on FFXV info based on info they have translated from the Ultimania and the other localized versions, and I think it can be seen as the best resource for the FFXV lore.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 01:59, October 28, 2018 (UTC)
I added the Pocket Edition extra dialogue to the Ardyn (boss) Trivia section.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 02:19, October 28, 2018 (UTC)

Final Fantasy XV game is not finished yet is it? Because...I was curious,as for why...[edit source]

I watched a full video about Episode Ardyn and at the end of credit, it says "to be continued in Chapter 14 of Final Fantasy XV"... Do you guys know what they're referring next chapter someday? Or has it done already? If so, I don't get why Square Enix put Aranea appear in Dissidia Omina NT as playable and not as the episode Aranea... While Final Fantasy XIV continues to update new another story.

Please let me know. Thanks. --Hatredboy (talk) 20:21, April 10, 2020 (UTC)

They mean the Chapter 14 of the main game of FFXV. There is no more FFXV content coming.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:54, April 11, 2020 (UTC)

Outdated information?[edit source]

I'm not sure if this is something that was in an update or if it was changed in the Windows/Royal editions, but under the "abilities" section of this article it states that as "Prompto," one difference in his gameplay is that he can't use Snapshot. I'm able to both equip and have him use Snapshot while playing the Royal Edition for PS4, so I guess something changed?

That's interesting. What is the result in the photos? Because everyone else can see him as Ardyn, only Noctis thinks he is Prompto. The photos should thus show Ardyn taking selfies etc. for it to make sense lore-wise anyway!Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 18:48, 26 January 2021 (UTC)EDIT: Actually, Ardyn doesn't have Prompto's camera, so I guess you never get the images?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 18:51, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
