Is it possible to add some external link about Angeal?
Those are only for playable characters, correct? Well, I'm removing it.
Original Design Edit
Zack's design was meant to be the original design for the main character of Final Fantasy VII; not Angeal.
Has anyone else noticed? Edit
Angeal sort of plays the part of Blue Mage in Compilation. He absorbs monster traits, can use monster traits, and can give monster traits.
Am I the only one who finds Angeal really confusing? His goals, his motivations, his actions, I understand none of them. Perhaps my limited emotional range is responsible, as usual? Or maybe he's only meant to make sense to Japanese stereotypes who are, like him, obsessed with honour and pride - the kind of people who commit seppuku for littering and stuff. The Man In The Black Cape 19:00, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
That was racist. But on a more important note, Angeal was really hard to understand. I guess that was sort of the point. I would argue that it is the character who has a limited emotional range, not you. Anyway, I just found a translation of the CC ultimania guide for some unrelated reasons. He wanted to convince Genesis to come back to Shinra, then became all confused & emo when Genesis told him what he was. Hollander snatched a DNA sample from him while his guard was down, he wasn't really helping them ever. That help any?
Some I s'pose. If my earlier comment was interpreted as being racist, understand that I was using the word "stereotype" to imply that I wasn't actually referring to the Japanese nation, people or ethnicity, merely the popularised image of them. It was not my intention to offend. The Man In The Black Cape 21:28, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
It was the whole "make sense to," which implied that there was a large fan base in Japan who would relate with ritualistic suicide & all that jazz. But like I said, I don't really think the racist connotations of your comment are relevant, nor do they particularly concern me. I just wanted to communicate that lucky find, & let you know that even a self-proclaimed FFVII expert had no idea what the fuck was up with Angeal. If you're curious, my original interpretation was that he WAS helping Hollander & Genesis for a little while, but only under the stipulation that his clones be made only from monsters. On a semi-related note, I found a chapter-by-chapter translation of Before Crisis on the same site, which might help iron out a few holes in the wiki. (What the fuck is so special about Zirconaide, anyway?)
I remember reading translations from the Crisis Core Ultimania on The Lifestream.net about the story. It said something like Angeal switched sides in order to try and get Genesis to return to SOLDIER, and he couldn't tell Zack otherwise his plan wouldn't have worked.
I wonder if his name has been dismissed too easilly as coming from the word "Angel."
In biology, there is a physiological process called Angiogenesis, of which the first part is pronounced similarly to "Angeal" (the second part, Genesis, being fairly obvious.) Even if it's not the case, it's pretty interesting. The process itself is the "cloning" of blood vessels, (new blood vessels are grown from the old ones, etc etc.)
Just a thought. 126.96.36.199 22:54, 10 June 2009 (UTC)--Ray (unregistered user)
It does sound interesting, but I'm thinking it's most likely a coincidence. It makes a lot more sense that Angeal is just a masculinated form of Angel. There is a lot of unverified naming significance in these games, though. Barret Wallace, for example, may have been named after a British revolutionary leader (William Wallace), & I don't even remember the suggested etymology for his first name.
Zack sid say wings represented angels in the game. And at the end Angeal pulled zack to the lifestream as if he were in Angel.
Zack is a poser. He said "monsters" before Cissnei said that to him. But you make a good point, regardless....Red...VII...?
Angeal's Future in the Compilation Edit
How do you think Square will include Angeal in future titles if they do? I'm asking because Cloud and his friends don't know about him or his connections to Zack and the Buster Sword, plus if you see the last scene with the restored Buster Sword after the end credits of Advent Chldren Complete, it can sort of be seen as a nod to Angeal as well as Zack.
Honestly, I think Angeal was a one-time thing. Genesis MAY speak about him in future titles. Hell, maybe an Angeal copy will appear, I don't know. But I highly doubt it.Although, it isn't impossible. The Before Crisis turks reportedly help with the evacuation in Dirge, so at this point, I suppose that anything could happen, so long as it's within reason.
I don't think it impossible. In fact, a part of me finds it quite likely. I think the stuff in LOVELESS talks about the Three Friends reuniting again (even though one of them's dead, another is pseudo-dead, and another is just plain weird). Thik of how awkward a conversation that would be though - "Err, so what have you guys been doing these past few years?". Not to mention the potential dramaticness of the situation in general. But his involvement in the plot... I've no idea.
Yeah! like a sequel to DoC! a final REUNION where they all come back and everyone fights everybody!
umm.... does anyone know what hairstyle Angeal sports? i havent found many hair styles that look remotely close to it, and even some wigs dont look that close either... any help? thanks! Ian

Though this is probably a null question, has it ever been confirmed that Angeal is of similar skill to Genesis and Sephiroth?
Is he really 25? he looks older I always thought he was in his early 30s
"Around 25" is what is listed in his profile. He, Sephiroth, and Genesis also have the same age listed, and they should be about the same. Plus, Aerith is 22, & she was born after Gast left the Jenova Project. Everything seems to fit.Neo Bahamut (talk) 03:55, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
