Final Fantasy Wiki

T-Rexaur is a Triple Triad card in Final Fantasy VIII used to play the minigame and for turning into items with Quezacotl's Card Mod. T-Rexaur is the thirty-sixth card in the inventory and the third Level 4 card.

Being a Level 4 card, the card values on the T-Rexaur are not particularly strong, but its value placements may be useful for games that use Same and/or Plus.

The T-Rexaur monster has a 3.5% chance to drop the card. Using the Card command on a T-Rexaur has a 93.7% chance to procure a T-Rexaur card when it succeeds.

Any AI Triple Triad player who uses Level 4 cards has a chance of using T-Rexaur in a play, from where the player can win it in a card match.

Card Mod[]

Two T-Rexaur cards refine into a Dino Bone with Quezacotl's Card Mod ability. It turns into Quake spells with Diablos's Time and Space Magic Refiner, and is also a needed component for making Twin Lance and Exeter weapons. Quake is an excellent spell to have early, and thus it is worth collecting T-Rexaur cards for card modding purposes. However, it takes two T-Rexaur cards to make one Dino Bone, whereas only one Armadodo card is needed for the same item, and Armadodo is a lower level card as well.

Physical version[]

In 1999, following the release of Final Fantasy VIII in Japan, Bandai produced a full set of collectible Triple Triad cards in Final Fantasy VIII Cardass Masters Perfect Visuals. The set was made up of the 110 cards as seen in the game along with 72 artwork cards and a collector's edition playing mat. The cards have a blue side and a red side. The cards have become a rare collector's item.
