Uses "Bolt3" on all opponents
Description
Swift Bolt is a battle item item in Final Fantasy VII that casts Bolt3 on all enemies. It is the Lightning-elemental version of the Fire Veil, Ice Crystal, Earth Mallet, and M-Tentacles, and an upgrade to the Bolt Plume.

Mechanics[]
Unlike when casting the spell Bolt3, using the Swift Bolt does not take the user's stats into account in determining damage. The final damage is calculated as :

The damage is then modified as per the enemy's resistance to Lightning-elemental damage; i.e. double if the enemy is weak to Lightning, half of they resist, 0 if they nullify Lightning, or healing if they absorb Lightning.

Swift Bolt has moderate use during the time the player can obtain it, as it may deal more damage than the player might be able to at that point in time, especially if they hit elemental weaknesses. However, it is quickly outclassed if the player has Trine, as Swift Bolt can only do upwards to 1200 damage. For challenge runs where Materia is not usable, and during "Homecoming of a Miserable Daughter", the Swift Bolt can see a fair more amount of use. It may also have use during "Clash in the Deep Sea" in the fight with Carry Armor and against mechanical enemies in "Mako Cannon Rampage".
In the Battle Square, the Swift Bolt may prove to be useful if the player no longer has access to their Materia.
Etymology[]
The item's Japanese name is "Raijin" for "Swift Lightning". It is a recurring ninjutsu skill in the series, explaining why it is being sold in Wutai, the nation of the ninjas.
