A wild cat. Attacks with Catscratch.
Final Fantasy VI PlayStation Bestiary entry
The Stray Cat is an enemy in Final Fantasy VI. It is notable for its powerful Rage: the Stray Cat Rage is one of the most popular for Gau, as Cat Scratch is a simple but highly effective physical attack, and the Rage can be acquired as soon as Gau is recruited as long as the player fought a Stray Cat in the Doma region. If Gau is equipped with a Genji Glove, Cat Scratch will attack twice. The Stray Cat will be missed permanently if not encountered in the World of Balance.
Stray Cats tend to attack in groups, and every third turn have a chance to use their special attack, Cat Scratch, which does quadruple damage to a single target. They have low HP and can easily be killed before their third turn.
