Stiria is a boss in Final Fantasy XIII. She is half of Snow's Eidolon, the Twin Sisters of Shiva, and is fought by him in Lake Bresha, along with Nix, as a test to prove Snow's strength to them.

They first appear when Snow is threatened by oncoming PSICOM troops, saving him then challenging him next. Once the Shiva Sisters have been defeated, they enter Gestalt Mode, and become a motorcycle.

Battle[]

Nix and Stiria are the first Eidolon battle, with the tutorial explaining how Snow can appease Shiva.

Since Snow is the only character to fight his Eidolon alone, Stiria cannot be targeted during the fight and won't attack him, instead healing him after taking certain amounts of damage as he has no other support. She is also the one to cast Doom on him before he fights Nix.

Strategy[]

The fastest way to win this battle is to use Ravager and either cue up three Blizzards or three Froststrikes (Blizzard is recommended due to faster casting time) and switch into Sentinel when Nix charges her ATB to tank her special moves. The player does not need to use a Guard-ability to increase the Gestalt-Bar; one simply needs to be in the Sentinel paradigm.

Etymology[]

Shiva (also spelled Śiva) is a Hindu god. The Hindu Shiva once saved the world by consuming poison, giving him blue skin around the area of the neck and throat. Shiva is a male god, but can merge with his consort Parvati to become Ardhanari, an androgynous Hindu god of duality. Shiva is the god of destruction along with Vishnu, who is the god of preservation, and Brahma, the god of creation. Together they are the three principle deities of the Trimurti (Hindu Triad). It is believed he periodically destroys the world, then recreates it.

Shiva has different human forms, males and females. When he was in his avatar form, he spent most of his times in the Himalayan snow mountain. Shiva in the Final Fantasy series is likely inspired by one of his female avatars.

The Japanese pronunciation "Shiba" could refer to the English word "shiver", which in Japanese would sound like "shi-ba" or "shi-va".

Stiria is Latin for "icicle".
