Stigma (スティグマ, Sutiguma?), also known as Profane, is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series, used primarily by Sephiroth.

Stigma is an enemy ability used by Bizarro∙Sephiroth, which deals Shout-elemental magic damage to the party equal to 1³⁄₄ normal damage as well as Poison and Slow.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Profane is an enemy ability used by the penultimate form of the final boss, which emits a noxious cloud from the boss's core and inflicts the Poison status to characters caught within its area of effect.

Etymology

Stigma refers to a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance or person. As Sephiroth's signature ability, however, it likely refers to religious usage of the word specifically, referring to marks left on Christ's body by the Crucifixion, as Sephiroth already embodies numerous religious references and views himself as a being akin to a god.
