Sprite (スプライト, Supuraito?) is a recurring enemy in the Final Fantasy series. It is typically a fey creature.

The Sprite is a member of the pixie family. They are friendly creatures found in several Shadowreign era zones, and will support nearby players by casting white magic on them. Despite this, they can be attacked by players for their Stygian Ash, which is necessary to battle the Dark Ixion notorious monster. Defeating sprites and other friendly pixies can prevent them from respawning until players trade Bottled Pixies to the Fay Spring in Grauberg.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
Sprites are a variety of elemental creature. Essentially elemental aether made manifest, sprites are non-sentient, idly floating about in areas with a high concentration of their associated element. While generally passive creatures that will only attack when threatened, some sprites have been known to react violently to the casting of magic in their vicinity.

The Sprite is an enemy that has the Float ability and absorbs Holy-based attacks. Sprite has low Attack and Defense, but high Magic Resistance and Magic Power. Its White Wind skill is a powerful healing tool, so the player should eliminate it with a strong physical attack in one shot.

Sprites are delicate floating monsters with a magickal focus. Sprites harness Holy powers to heal their allies and harm their foes. Since most of their abilities require a lot of MP, using Rasp or Osmose will force them to resort to weak physical attacks.

Etymology[]
Sprite is a broad term referring to a number of preternatural legendary creatures. The term is generally used in reference to elf-like creatures, including fairies, and similar beings (although not earth beings), but can also signify various spiritual beings, including ghosts.
