Battle
It begins battle with less than one half of its max HP in stock, draining life from the party to refill its own. They are no threat if the party has been keeping their Crystarium levels up.
Paradigm Pack
The Spiranthes can be recruited as a Medic. It is a recommended Medic early game, however, its stats are very low, even at its maximum level of 40, and it learns neither Curasa nor Improved Cure that many other Medics have. Due to this it is easily replaced by other Medic monsters later. Its main asset is the non-inheritable Item Collector ability, meaning it may be useful if the player desires an enemy's rare drop.

Etymology
Spiranthes is a genus of orchids in the subfamily Orchidoideae distributed in the Americas, Eurasia, and Australia. The name Spiranthes is derived from the Greek speira ("coil") and anthos ("flower") inspired by the spirally arranged inflorescence.
