No mp cost

No MP Cost in Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-.

Spellspring (MP消費0, MP Shouhi 0?), also known as No MP Cost, 0 MP Cost (消費MP0, Shōhi MP 0?), Manafont, Freecast or Inspired, is a status effect that allows the target to freely use spells and skills that normally use MP, for no MP cost.

Appearances[]

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-[]

No MP Cost is a status acquired either though the Digital Mind Wave (DMW) or through accessories. The game also has a similar status, No AP Cost.

If the DMW reel spins to 2-2-2 outside of modulation phase, Zack is granted with No MP Cost for the rest of the battle. 7-7-# grants No MP Cost for 15 seconds, and #-7-# grants No MP Cost for 12 seconds. The accessory Soul of Thamasa grants the status when equipped, found during missions 9-4-4 and 9-6-5.

If the DMW reel spins to 4-4-4 outside of modulation phase, Zack is granted with No AP Cost for the rest of the battle. 7-#-# grants No AP Cost for 12 seconds. The accessory Laurel Crown grants the status when equipped. Laurel Crown can be acquired by clearing mission 9-5-4 and found during mission 9-6-2.

The Genji Helm grants both No MP and No AP Cost.

Final Fantasy X[]

Spellspring is gained from the Twin Stars (one ally) and Three Stars (all) item. The status eliminates the use of MP and allows the target to freely use their spells and skills. The status can also be acquired through Rikku's Mix by mixing either Freedom (no MP cost for one target) or Freedom X (no MP cost for all targets).

In a related manner, Lulu's Overdrive freely casts any Black Magic for no MP cost. All enemies have an inherent Spellspring status, so reducing their MP won't hinder them.

Final Fantasy X-2[]

Spellspring is gained from the Twin Stars and Three Stars items. The accessory Ragnarok grants Spellspring, and can be obtained by blaming Rikku for the Mi'ihen Highroad Mystery in Chapters 4/5. Spellspring can also be cast by MP Mambo, a dance for the Songstress. Interestingly, Spellspring also negates the HP cost of the Dark Knight's Darkness.

MP Mambo requires the key item Magical Dances, Vol I, which is given after defeating the bosses in the Den of Woe in Chapter 5. The effect is also gained with the Lady Luck dressphere with the mastered ability SOS Spellspring whenever the character falls in HP Critical health.

Final Fantasy XI[]

Manafont is the Black Mage's special job ability that invokes a Special Ability status effect for 30 seconds during which spells and abilities that normally cost MP have 0 MP cost (and cannot be interrupted by damage).

This is especially helpful when the party is in dire straits and the Black Mage has run out of MP, but due to their high damage output, it can mean that they quickly amass enmity and in turn the attention of the enemy.

Final Fantasy XII[]

0 MP is an innate trait exclusive to enemies, such as Entites and Espers. In the original version, summoned Espers also have this trait, allowing the summoner to freely siphon their MP for their own use.

Final Fantasy XV[]

Status that negates all MP costs.

Description

Inspired negates all MP costs. The Magitek Booster item grants the status to a party member for 20 seconds. Armiger Freechain, learned in the Ascension Grid, grants it to Noctis for executing an Armiger Chain.

Final Fantasy Type-0[]

Freecast negates all MP costs for party members. Different items, accessories, Special Orders, and Full Magic can grant it.

Dissidia Final Fantasy (2008)[]

Shantotto's EX Mode ability is Manafont, and allows her to keep her Bravery after delivering an HP attack.

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy[]

Manafont replenishes Shantotto's Bravery to its base value in an instant after she lands an HP attack.

Final Fantasy Trading Card Game[]

One of Shantotto's cards can use Manafont. For the discard of a Shantotto card, Manafont removes the top card of the player's deck from the game, and for the rest of the turn the player can use that card's ability for no cost.
