Spellbound, also known as Augment Maintenance, Defense Maintenance, Buff Duration, Buff: Duration, and Soul Voice, is an ability or effect that increases the time status effects last.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy XII[]

Spellbound is an augment that costs 30 LP to learn, and it increases the duration of all positive status effects by 50%. In the Zodiac versions, it is in every License Board.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings[]

Penelo's accessory Rune Bracelet increases the duration of buffs gained through Penelo's Dance abilities. It is acquired in mission 73.

Final Fantasy XIII[]

Characters in Synergist role boost positive status effects' longevity. The higher the Synergists' rank, and the more Synergists in the current battle formation, the bigger the bonus is.

The Synergist passive ability Boon increases a character's buffs' duration when a Synergist spell is performed on the character. The inverse happens with the Saboteur role ability Jinx, which increases the duration of an enemy's status ailments when a Saboteur spell is cast on the enemy.

Hope Estheim's Vidofnir and Sazh Katzroy's Spica Defenders weapons have the Defense Maintenance and Augment Maintenance abilities, respectively, which further increase the duration of buffs in those groups. These weapons are also able to provide the Buff Duration synthesis.

Oerba Dia Vanille and Oerba Yun Fang have multiple weapons that also provide Buff Duration as a synthesis.

Final Fantasy XIII-2[]

The Synergist again naturally boosts durations due to their role bonus and Boon. Serah Farron and Noel Kreiss are able to equip the synthesis abilities "Buff Duration" and "Buff: Duration"; one affects buffs cast by the user while the other affects buffs cast onto the user.

Some Synergist monsters learn Defensive and Augment Maintenance as passives, and/or the command Endless Blessings. Saboteur monsters can again learn Jinx, and some may learn Endless Nightmares.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift[]

FFTA2 Spellbound Status Symbol

Spellbound is a status effect that increases the time of effect of all status, may them be positive or negative. It is inflicted by the Time Mage's Extend spell and by the Spellbound Support Ability, available to viera Green Mages and nu mou Scholars.

Spellbound is the third ability the Shaman crown can learn. The ability inflicts Stop on all allies and enemies for several turns.

Etymology[]

A spell, charm or hex is a set of words, spoken or unspoken, which are considered by its user to invoke some magical effect. Historical attestations exist for the use of some variety of incantations in many cultures around the world.

The soul, in many religious, philosophical, psychological, and mythological traditions, is the incorporeal and, in many conceptions, immortal essence of a person, living thing, or object.
