Spellbound, also known as Defense Maintenance, is an ability or effect that increases the time status effects last.

Final Fantasy XII
Spellbound an augment in that costs 30 LP to learn, and it increases the duration of all status effects.
Final Fantasy XIII
Characters in Synergist role boost positive status effects' longevity. The higher the Synergists' rank, and the more Synergists in the current battle formation, the bigger the bonus is.
