Spectral Cog is an accessory in Final Fantasy VII Remake that fills the wearer's limit gauge when they consume MP.

Spectral Cog is earned from scoring 30,000 or more points in Whack-a-Box in the normal course first available in Chapter 8, "Budding Bodyguard", and in Chapter 14, "In Search of Hope", taking place in the Sector 5 Slums. After Cloud Strife and Aerith Gainsborough help some missing children at the Leaf House in Sector 5, one suggests more can be done at the kids' secret hideout, where the two talk to Sarah. She will suggest Cloud partake in a minigame to destroy several boxes to score points. The ultimate prize is a Spectral Cog.

The more MP the player expends, the more the limit bar fills, however, the effect is minimal even with MP-intensive spells like tier 3 elemental magic; with lesser spells, there is often no perceptible effect on the limit bar. Most normal battles also do not go on long enough for the party's limit gauges to fill, and thus they are mostly used in boss battles, especially after the player unlocks level 2 limit breaks that take longer to charge.
The accessory may still be situationally useful on characters who expend a lot of MP, like Aerith, especially if she is using 
Silver Staff for its MP-regenerative properties.
