A Two-hour is a player coined term for most level 1 active job abilities in Final Fantasy XI. Some jobs get more than one level 1 ability, but each gets one and exactly one which may be used once every two (real) hours. This ability is generally among the most powerful available to the character regardless of level. Because of the high recast time, players tend to be reserved for moments of desperation or for special battles where a little extra damage or protection is needed quick.

All jobs have a two-hour which is unique to that job. Unlike all other active and passive abilities, a two-hour is not usable if the job in question is being used as a subjob (IE: a White Mage with a subjob of Black Mage cannot use Mana Font).

Two-Hour Abilities by Job

  • Bard - Soul Voice - This buff lasts 3 minutes and during this time all Bard Songs are doubled in effectiveness and become nearly irresistible.
  • Beastmaster - Familiar - Increases the strength of the Beastmaster's pet and makes charm never break.
  • Black Mage - Mana Font – This is a buff that lasts for 30 seconds. While the buff is active, all spells cast by a Black mage have no MP cost.
  • Blue Mage - Azure Lore - Increases the power of Blue Magic for 30 seconds.
  • Corsair - Wild Card - Creates a random benefitial effect for the party.
  • Dancer - Trance - Reduces the cost of dances and steps to 0.
  • Dark Knight - Blood Weapon - This buff lasts 30 seconds, all successful attacks by the dark knight in this time will heal him.
  • Dragoon - Spirit Surge - The dragoon merges with his wyvern, absorbing his strength, agility, TP, and hit points for 30 seconds.
  • Monk - Hundred Fists - This greatly reduces the delay on hand to hand attacks for 30 seconds.
  • Ninja - Mijin Gakure - The Ninja immediately dies in a fiery explosion, harming the enemy. There is no experience loss for dying in this way.
  • Paladin - Invincible - The Paladin becomes invincible versus physical damage for 30 seconds. This also creates an incredible amount of hate.
  • Puppetmaster - Overdrive - Increases the power of the puppetmaster's automaton.
  • Ranger - Eagle Eye - This is a single, high damage, long range attack with a ranged weapon.
  • Samurai - Meikyo Shisui - A 30 second status that reduces all Weapon skills cost to 100%TP and grants 300%TP instantly.
  • Scholar - Tabula Rasa - Fully optimizes both Black and White magic.
  • Summoner - Astral Flow - Allows a summoner to do a massive damage attack, consuming all of his MP, when he has an avatar out.
  • Thief - Perfect Dodge - The thief gains a huge dodge bonus, and cannot be hit by physical attacks.
  • Red Mage - Chainspell - This is a buff that lasts for 30 seconds and reduces the casting and recast time of all spells to literally nothing.
  • Warrior - Mighty Strikes - All successful attacks for 30 seconds will be considered critical hits.
  • White Mage - Benediction - All party members are immediately healed to full. This costs no MP.
