Loading screen tip
Sorcerous Storm is a niche ability meant for Aerith to keep enemies at bay when surrounded. It has a very powerful magic damage output with no MP cost, and hits all enemies within its radius. This makes it particularly effective when fighting opponents with multiple limbs or parts, or when trying to dispatch hordes of small enemies quickly. Although it appears to cause a lightning storm, Sorcerous Storm deals non-elemental magic damage.
Its main drawback is that Aerith must be within the range of the enemies, which is often not optimal, especially due to its slow startup. Since Aerith has poor Vitality and low mobility, she most often should stay in the backline and away from enemies.
Sorcerous Storm is useful to deal with many enemies at once ganging up on Aerith, or after pulling in a group of enemies together with wind magic. The best use of Sorcerous Storm is to clear the field of numerous weak enemies, and thus Aerith can be equipped with First Strike Materia/Whistlewind Scarf/both to start the battle with ATB already charged to run amid the enemies and use Sorcerous Storm right off the bat. Putting up Lustrous Shield before using it can potentially increase the number of targets while keeping Aerith relatively safe. Another potential use is on enemies that are staggered, pressured or otherwise helpless, ensuring Aerith won't be interrupted.
