Eclipsa had Heliarc's immortal heart extracted and replaced with the Magitek Heart, while his own would be used as the power source of the Babel. When Heliarc awakened and saw the Magitek Heart inside of him, he stormed Eclipsa's lab and learned she had operated on him for her own ends. Eclipsa revealed his heart was inside Babel's mechanical box, which was impossible to open unless the box was destroyed. Eclipsa tried to kill Heliarc to erase any setback that could ruin her plans, but Heliarc defeated her and took the Babel.

Back at his lab, Heliarc explained to Pertira in part what had happened. She proposed the two go to her hometown to ruminate on the events in a better place. Heliarc lived his days peacefully in this town and nothing strange happened to him yet despite carrying the Magitek Heart. Yuraisha visited them and revealed the state of world affairs: Aldore blamed the people of Hess for losing the Magitek Heart and the Heart of Babel (both in Heliarc's possession), causing discrimination to increase substantially. Yuraisha planned to create an organization to protect Hess people like themselves, and offered to protect Heliarc, knowing the military would soon come after them. Heliarc agreed to join her.

Heliarc lived his days peacefully in this town and nothing strange happened to him yet despite carrying the Magitek Heart. Yuraisha visited them and revealed the state of world affairs: as a result of losing the Magitek Heart and the Heart of Babel (both in Heliarc's possession), the Aldore government blamed the people of Hess, causing discrimination to increase substantially. Yuraisha planned to create an organization to protect Hess people like themselves, and offered to protect Heliarc, knowing the military would soon come after them. Heliarc agreed to join her.

On the way Heliarc dealt with the monsters along the path while learning to control his magic powers. Pertira followed them as she was concerned, and had come to a realization: since crystals hold people's thoughts, the Magitek Heart not only would drain Heliarc's energy, but also his mind. His personality was slowly changing, and thus she wanted to be by his side until he would be no more. Yuraisha agreed to her request. The Magitek Heart slowly eroded Heliarc's memories, sapped his emotions and paled his skin, and he took on a new set of clothes.

Heliarc wanted them to do something about their food scarcity as a new wave of refugees was about to arrive. Yuraisha instructed Heliarc to go defend their new base. He wanted to reveal what he had discovered about the Magitek Heart to Pertira, and deemed it best to tell her along the way to the base. Heliarc had realized the Heart's functionality depended of his own magic: it would beat when he was nearby, but stop working properly while he was away, which was consistent with the experiments performed, as the time the monsters had rampaged the lab Heliarc had been at home. Soon the Heliarc they both knew would cease to be as his memories and emotions were fading, but he would still continue to live. Heliarc thus wanted to bid a proper goodbye to Pertira, requesting she give her a new name so as to not be tied to the existence known as Heliarc. Pertira dubbed him Sol, meaning sun, due to the warmth of his kindness, his ability to blast wrongdoers with awesome spells, and for radiating the troubled with a healing light. Pertira and Sol took different paths promising to meet again after the current conflict was over, even if Heliarc would be no more. Pertira left, crying in the rain.

The Magitek Heart would further mutate Sol's body, turning his hair gray, his eyes reddish, and most of his skin translucent, exposing his skeleton. His memories and emotions disappeared, although Sol would remain loyal to Hess and become one of its main lieutenants. The Heart of Babel was turned into the power source of the Hessian airship ''Invincible''. Even while taking a more direct role in combat he continued research. Due to Sol's inability to feel emotion he never treated the other Sages with any preference. He wanted to do battle, thinking it could stir his emotions.
