Sol, born as Heliarc, is a major character in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. A member of Hess' Eight Sages, he awakens from his slumber during the course of Season One, debuting near the end of it as its final antagonist. He reappears during the game's second season as a recurring adversary turned supporting character.

Conceptually, he serves as Rain's foil and arch-nemesis for a majority of the story, being his exact opposite and seeking to destroy him, finding personal joy in this conflict of contrasting ideals. Following the end of Season Two, Sol is considered as part of the game's main cast of characters, appearing prominently in side stories and having multiple unit variants.

Profile[]

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

Appearance[]

As Heliarc, he was a fair-skinned young man with knee-length blue hair. He wore a set of white-sided red robes with long sleeves and a cloak. He wore a belt, black pants and reddish boots and a golden monocle and circlet, and a spiral-shaped rod with a blue orb.

As Sol, he is an ethereal and intimidating being. While traveling he wears a long white cloak that covers the entirety of his body and hides his face. He removes the cloak for combat, revealing his body wrapped in complex robes. The Magitek Heart that is the source of his immortality has transformed his body, making his flesh translucent, revealing his skeleton, save for his face and extremities, which are pale white. Some strands of grayish hair are visible, but the full length of it is unknown. He wears a pair of golden open-toe sandals and is wrapped in multi-layered white and blue robes. He wears numerous golden beads and an ornamental golden halo accessory with a red jewel. His horned helmet appears to be made out of the skull of an animal. The interior of his cloak reveals an ever-shifting spatial void, a result of the dark magical power he emanates, which has absorbed into the very fabric.

Sol is redesigned for his Neo Vision rarity variants, being largely the same but with a few differences. The lower part of his robes now have golden spiked adornments and a set of golden chains replaces the beads-like accessory on his chest, tying his new golden shoulder protectors. His headgear no longer features a skull, but a metallic headpiece. His robes flow more wildly. Most notably Sol's skin, while still transluscent, now glows with shades of blue and purple with his bone structure no longer visible, instead showing (or even reflecting) the same galactic pattern seen on his robes, which now extends down to his hands with elongated nails, leaving only his face with his usual white skin coloration. He dons black lipstick and a small blueish marking on his chin. His body is also more muscular.

Personality[]

As Heliarc, he was a kind and devoted scientist, dedicated to his research to save people suffering from injuries and illness. Despite joining the military he soon opted out of it, as he disliked fighting despite his magical prowess. He used to be meticulous and concern himself with his research, going to deep lengths to ensure the resultant devices were safe to use. Raegen has noted him to be the kindest and most studious among the Eight Sages. After mutating into his new persona of Sol, he could no longer feel emotion, and thus searches ways to feel something. He has a logical understanding of sentiments such as sadness or anger, and tried to use the war between Aldore and Hess to draw out his emotions.

After being sealed in Crystal, Sol let the worst of human emotions consume him as he could feel the anger, sorrow, hatred and pain caused by seven centuries worth of conflict in Lapis, the new world he was transported to. This warped him for the worst, making him a nihilist sociopath with morbidly misanthropic views who now seeks to destroy everything to purge humanity's meaningless existence. He detests Rain and everything he stands for, as the young man embodies compassion, selflessness, justice and warm ideals, concepts that Sol abhors. He thus sets himself to serve as Rain's foil, finding malignant joy in their conflict.

Although hostile and insane, Akstar believes that—for better or worse—Sol's intentions are pure, and that he is a good person at heart. Sol is snarky and sarcastic, and after spending time with the party, becomes less antagonistic towards them. Though keeping them at an arm's length, he does offer support in his own way from time to time. After he joins Hyoh on his quest, he gets to experience the more positive emotions, like gratitude and joy. He becomes more socially aware and tries to cheer Hyoh after his soup turns disastrous, and pranks the others into thinking the soup is delicious. As his emotions begin to reawaken, Sol comes to learn the one thing he truly detests: his own self devoid of emotion. After his true feelings return Sol selflessly puts himself in harm's way to protect Hyoh and his dreams, which he had previously scorned upon.

Story[]

Background[]

Heliarc was a young man of Hess origins with innately great magical powers who enlisted in the military. He soon quit, as he did not want to injure others, and thus pursued a path of research. At some point he met Pertira and the two became good friends.

He joined in Aldore's main research base at the same time as fellow scientist Eclipsa, though they never interacted much. Whereas Eclipsa dedicated herself to the research of the Heart of Babel to power airships, Heliarc's project, the Magitek Heart, was meant to save lives. Heliarc developed a notorious reputation, many thinking he would surpass Yuraisha, the top professor herself. Heliarc became the second scientist after her to undergo the immortality process.

Heliarc's Magitek Heart, although complete in construction, was functionally still a mystery to him; it would beat at times and cease at others, as he could not fully comprehend the nature of the Crystal powering it. Before leaving, Yuraisha encouraged him to study it from every angle. Eclipsa asked him to share his knowledge to advance her research on Babel, and Heliarc complied though unsure how his research on a new type of human heart could help her develop an airship power source. He in return sought for her counsel regarding energy.

The Head Researcher was frustrated with Heliarc's lack of progress who refused to test the Magitek Heart on living subjects without full understanding of its nature. The Head Researcher threatened to remove Heliarc from the project unless he would proceed with monster tests. Fearing that any new researcher would not be able to handle it, Heliarc reluctantly agreed, and with Pertira tested the Magitek Heart on monsters to poor initial results. The monsters broke out and assaulted the laboratory, forcing Heliarc to dispose them. Hurt at what he had done, he deemed the Magitek Heart too dangerous to test in its current form, and thus decided to abort the project, destroy the Heart and research files, and start anew.

On his way to the main base to deliver his report, Heliarc met Eclipsa and told her of his plans. Eclipsa acted understanding and revealed she also had met setbacks. Heliarc reported his intentions to his furious superiors, but when he returned Pertira was glad he was "freed from detention." Heliarc was confused until she revealed Eclipsa had told her he was detained for his intentions to destroy his project, and to give her the Magitek Heart and research files to help him. Learning of her lies, Heliarc headed to Eclipsa's laboratory where she revealed she intended to use the Magitek Heart and her own body to power the Babel even if it would fundamentally kill her, immortalizing her name in history. She had Heliarc cornered by Aldore soldiers and he blasted them with a spell. When he went to check on their condition, worried he had killed the soldiers, Heliarc was knocked unconscious.

Eclipsa had Heliarc's immortal heart extracted and replaced with the Magitek Heart, while his own would be used as the power source of the Babel. When Heliarc awakened and saw the Magitek Heart inside of him, he stormed Eclipsa's lab and learned she had operated on him for her own ends. Eclipsa revealed his heart was inside Babel's mechanical box, which was impossible to open unless the box was destroyed. Eclipsa tried to kill Heliarc to erase any setback that could ruin her plans, but Heliarc defeated her and took the Babel.

Back at his lab, Heliarc explained to Pertira in part what had happened. She proposed the two go to her hometown to ruminate on the events in a better place. Heliarc lived his days peacefully in this town and nothing strange happened to him yet despite carrying the Magitek Heart. Yuraisha visited them and revealed the state of world affairs: Aldore blamed the people of Hess for losing the Magitek Heart and the Heart of Babel (both in Heliarc's possession), causing discrimination to increase substantially. Yuraisha planned to create an organization to protect Hess people like themselves, and offered to protect Heliarc, knowing the military would soon come after them. Heliarc agreed to join her.

On the way Heliarc dealt with the monsters along the path while learning to control his magic powers. Pertira followed them as she was concerned, and had come to a realization: since crystals hold people's thoughts, the Magitek Heart not only would drain Heliarc's energy, but also his mind. His personality was slowly changing, and thus she wanted to be by his side until he would be no more. Yuraisha agreed to her request. The Magitek Heart slowly eroded Heliarc's memories, sapped his emotions and paled his skin, and he took on a new set of clothes.

Heliarc wanted them to do something about their food scarcity as a new wave of refugees was about to arrive. Yuraisha instructed Heliarc to go defend their new base. He wanted to reveal what he had discovered about the Magitek Heart to Pertira, and deemed it best to tell her along the way to the base. Heliarc had realized the Heart's functionality depended of his own magic: it would beat when he was nearby, but stop working properly while he was away, which was consistent with the experiments performed, as the time the monsters had rampaged the lab Heliarc had been at home. Soon the Heliarc they both knew would cease to be as his memories and emotions were fading, but he would still continue to live. Heliarc thus wanted to bid a proper goodbye to Pertira, requesting she give her a new name so as to not be tied to the existence known as Heliarc. Pertira dubbed him Sol, meaning sun, due to the warmth of his kindness, his ability to blast wrongdoers with awesome spells, and for radiating the troubled with a healing light. Pertira and Sol took different paths promising to meet again after the current conflict was over, even if Heliarc would be no more. Pertira left, crying in the rain.

The Magitek Heart would further mutate Sol's body, turning his hair gray, his eyes reddish, and most of his skin translucent, exposing his skeleton. His memories and emotions disappeared, although Sol would remain loyal to Hess and become one of its main lieutenants. The Heart of Babel was turned into the power source of the Hessian airship Invincible. Even while taking a more direct role in combat he continued research. Due to Sol's inability to feel emotion he never treated the other Sages with any preference. He wanted to do battle, thinking it could stir his emotions.

He came to spend time with the other Sages of Hess. Behemoth K was ticklish as Dark Fina and Eldareet fluffed his fur, which the beast found entertaining. He suggested Sol to fluff it himself, thinking it would move him, but Sol didn't have any interest. When Yuraisha baked a cake for them Sol ate Dark Fina's portion, infuriating her to such degree she went on a magical rampage, but she calmed down when Sol baked a new cake for her as an apology.

As the original Veritas of the Dark of Aldore enacted his plan to seal the rival nation's Sages in Crystal to start negotiations, Sol was defeated and sealed himself. The Sworn Eight of Paladia were betrayed by Aldore and transported, along with the large landmass of the battlefield with inhabitants from both Aldore and Hess, to the world of Lapis. Sol was transported inside the Crystal where he spent several centuries sealed. As a result of the ensuing years worth of conflict in Lapis, Sol was consumed by the worst of human emotions, twisting him from the inside, and warping his views into nihilism.

Season One[]

Seven hundred years later the now renamed Sworn Six destroy the Crystals while on their quest for revenge on Paladia, and Sol is thus freed, now with a desire to end all life. Rain and his party meet Sol in Pharm along with the Behemoth K after the new Veritas of the Dark is defeated. He destroys the Dark Crystal, leaving the party flabbergasted. Both Dark Fina and Raegen recognize Sol, who begins to voice his disgust of life, calling the party unsightly and blasts them with Holy. After the Behemoth ambushes and kills the Darklord, Sol departs with the beast to the Land of the Crystals to enact his plans.

As the two Sages make their way to the top, they are spotted by Rain's party, trying to ambush them. Fina collapses, giving away their cover. Sol summons visions of monsters to deal with the party as Veritas of the Light and Veritas of the Waters appear to assist Rain's party. When the party catches up to the Sages a second time, Sol summons more visions and orders the Behemoth to take care of them while he escapes. The Behemoth proves a tough obstacle, and the two members of the Sworn Six teleport away with it so Rain's party can progress. Sol is intercepted once more, but cuts the party away with a powerful seal exclusive to the Sages of Hess. He taunts them to sit and watch the upcoming destruction. Dark Fina uses the Sacred Ring of Paladia to transform into a Crystal to keep the Gate from pulling the world apart, sparing Fina as she is given Dark Fina's Sage power.

The party finds Sol at the top of the tower as he begins to prepare his ultimate plan. Fina argues against his beliefs that life is ugly. Sol tells her to wait and see if she will still think so, as both parties do battle. Sol proves a difficult opponent, but is defeated. Before the party can celebrate, Sol's ultimate weapon, the Chaotic Darkness, is summoned. He explains that the monster before them is the vision of centuries' worth of dark emotions and memories accumulated as a result of multiple conflicts, summoned by him. He asks Fina again if she believes that the hearts of people are beautiful, claiming that this evil is the true heart of humanity. He orders the monster to lay waste to all life in both Paladia and Lapis.

As the party pursues the Chaotic Darkness, Sol faces them. The party fights him to prove that sentiments like love also exist and triumph over hatred. Sol is defeated, but gloats that he was proven right as the party's faces now display anger and repulsion, making him believe that he was defeated by hatred. Rain states he doesn't hate Sol, but rather his inability to understand the Sage through battle as he could with the Sworn Six of Paladia. Sol is repulsed by Rain and vows to kill him as he disappears.

After the Chaotic Darkness is defeated Raegen and Rain use their Aldorian power to close the Gate. Sol attempts to use his own life to force it open, but Rain clashes with him and both disappear while leaving Rain's sword, the Crimson Saber, behind.

Season Two[]

Georl and Gungan[]

Sol finds himself back in Paladia, his homeworld. He can sense Rain's presence, nauseated that his aura is still brimming with noble intentions. Determining that the two of them are simply irreconcilable, he intends to find the young knight and kill him for symbolizing the things that he despises the most.

Rain's adopted brother, Lasswell, ventures to Paladia with the Sworn Six and their other friends to find Rain. They find Sol in Gungan in the Natura's Forbidden Land. Sol declares his intention to kill Rain, and Lasswell attempts to strike him down, but Akstar (traveling mercenary who has taken Lasswell as an apprentice for swordsmanship) advises against this as Sol was preparing to counter and kill Lasswell on the spot. When the party accuses Sol of desertifying the land, he denies involvement, and explains that it is a natural phenomenon as the Crystals sustaining the land have reached the end of their lifespan. Reaffirming his goal to find Rain, Sol declares he will accompany the party. Lasswell agrees, as it will allow them to observe Sol, but makes it clear he's not to act without permission. Sol disagrees with taking orders, but agrees to exercise restraint.

They return to the Natural homeland where King Yasha prepares for war against the rival clan of Shibyra with the party reluctantly joining the battle. Raegen, who along the Sworn Six of Paladia is aiding the Shibyra, proposes a single combat to avoid bloodshed. Sol elects to fight, much to Raegen's surprise, but Lasswell goes instead. Sol allows it since he believes watching father and son fight will be amusing. Raegen and Lasswell explain each other's circumstances and fight to the best of their ability to calm both sides. Sol, engaged by the battle, states he would have wanted to go after all, but Fina tells him that the reason the battle is captivating is because it is Raegen and Lasswell fighting.

The combatants calm the ire of both sides and convince them to a ceasefire to allow them to catch the culprit trying to plunge Gungan into war. Sol returns to the Natura Capital with the party where he talks with Sieghard, one of the Sworn Six who used to serve Aldore. When he flaunts his beauty, Sol proposes that he kill him and make his death even more beautiful, an idea that Sieghard finds appealing.

Sol accompanies the party to chase after Nazuu, one of the Battle Stars of the Orders (elite soldiers directly serving the tyrannical Aldore Emperor). Nazuu is the perpetrator behind the attempts to destroy Gungan. Though he does not partake in the battle, Sol sticks with the party after they defeat the Battle Star and the peace treaty is signed at last. Lasswell's party and the Sworn Six split to keep with their respective goals.

Crystallis[]

Lasswell's party travels to Crystallis upon Sol's guidance, as he can feel Rain's presence there. Sol taunts Lasswell by claiming that he can understand Rain much better due to being Rain's polar opposite. They find a cave full of sand where Lid trips and drops her gil. Sol finds her attachment to money ridiculous and goes on ahead. Lasswell and Akstar spar, and Lasswell lands a hit, a sign of improvement. Sol interferes, wanting to face Akstar himself. Lasswell decides to join as well. During the fight Akstar overpowers Sol who decides to make Akstar a target for him as well. As Sol leaves, Akstar says to Lasswell that despite Sol being an enemy, he has pure intentions and is a good person at heart.

At the Kappa Village the party learns that the Kappa are feeling weaker as a result of the Barrier Station nearby. Potchi, a girl and a friend of the Kappas, requests their help. Lasswell proposes they deactivate the facility and Sol agrees since he can feel Rain in there. Along the way, Akstar nicknames Sol as "Solly" (Sol-Nyan in the Japanese version) because he resembles a cat, as opposed to "Lassie" (Lasswell) being like a dog. Sol is annoyed and angers the more the nickname is used. Once the party shuts down the station Sol rushes to Rain and comes across Hyoh, the Orders' fourth strongest Battle Star. Declaring that Hyoh is Rain, Sol attacks, but is overpowered and both fall from a cliff. Sol is left unconscious and flashes back to his life as a Sage of Hess as he wakes up and resumes his search.

The party finds both Sol and Hyoh, and Lasswell realizes that there is some truth to Sol's belief that Hyoh is, indeed, Rain. Hyoh refutes the claim and strikes Fina in cold blood with the wound crystallizing and the party teleports away. Sol, still in company of the party, follows Potchi to a facility where the Crystal is transformed into sand, which she believes can be used to heal Fina. As Sol believes that Hyoh is inside the facility, Lasswell proceeds. They encounter Nagi, a member of the Orders who is fascinated with Hyoh and wants to defeat the party on his behalf. She fails and Hyoh appears, telling Nagi to stand back. Lasswell challenges Hyoh with Sol agreeing as he has not fully recovered, and plans to strike when they are at their weakest. The two duel and Lasswell comes to believe Hyoh is indeed Rain. Lasswell overpowers Hyoh with his new Mirror of Equity sword technique, fragmenting his mask. Lasswell wants Hyoh to admit his identity, but is sent flying from Hyoh's attack who escapes with Nagi.

Sol remains with the party until they meet with "Hyoh" (in truth, a disguised Nagi powered up through special drugs) who overpowers them with a flurry of magical attacks that send Akstar and Sol flying and leave the rest in a weakened state. Before "Hyoh" can deal the finishing blow, he is defeated by Rain himself and disappears. Rain notices Sol who is ready to fight him. Lasswell tries to return him the Crimson Saber, but Rain tells him to keep it longer. Sol tries to attack, but stops as he feels Rain has changed. The party agrees to go to Visectrum to enter the Order of Aldore tournament to become the Alpha Star of the Orders, the Battle Star closest to the Emperor, and change Aldore from within. During the night Akstar and Sol talk, and Sol hints that he knows Akstar is hiding something.

Visectrum and Magistellus[]

The party enters the preliminaries of the Order of Aldore, and is sent to travel through checkpoints. Sol clashes with Rain, but senses something amiss and deems him unfit to destroy at the moment. Needing to defeat other contestants to qualify, the party reaches their next checkpoint one point short their requirement. Sol's "solution" is to assault the checkpoint guard, but the party is outraged at his recklessness that would disqualify them. Demoldoa of the Epsilon Star uses his authority to allow them to pass as he wants to crush their rebellion in public.

Sol uses a crystal to summon a weaker version of the Chaotic Darkness. The party defeats it and Rain is angry, delighting the latter who enjoys seeing the old Rain back. Sol departs the party to carry out his own plans. He eventually senses Rain in the Town of Lament Sacher and uses his magic powers to witness visions of the events that took place there, learning about the tragedy that converted Rain into Hyoh. When Sol meets with the party Rain is not with them, as his true identity as Hyoh had been revealed. Sol shares his knowledge about the massacre of Sacher, which changed Rain. Lasswell thanks Sol for telling them the truth, and Sol departs to find Rain.

Rubiena[]

When the factions of Aldore and Hess wage war for control of the Weapon, Hyoh is separated from the rest of the Orders and becomes surrounded by crystallized monsters. Sol saves Hyoh and proposes they join forces to destroy the Aldore Emperor and settle their score after Hyoh becomes Aldore's new leader. Hyoh refuses, but Sol nonetheless accompanies him.

The two witness the Weapon's activation and are assaulted by monsters. Sol is forced to stand back to restore his magical power, while Hyoh is left fending them off. They end up saving one another, which causes Sol to experience warmer emotions and remember his time with the Sages of Hess. A grateful Sol heals a surprised Hyoh. The two rest as Hyoh cooks. Sol is amused that Hyoh would cook for him, but finds the soup an utter disaster. Sol believes the hardly edible ingredients are partially to blame, but nonetheless decides to finish it.

They are met by Sakura and Nichol, Lasswell's friends who deserted the Orders after learning of the Emperor's true ambitions: eternal sovereignty as the only existence in the world. Sol proposes they form a party to defeat the Emperor. Hyoh refuses, as he claims it is his fight alone as the true heir to Aldore, the throne having been usurped from his bloodline 700 years ago. Sol proclaims they will follow him on their own volition, and to celebrate the "party's formation," Sol offers a sample of Hyoh's soup, deeming it fantastic. Sakura is thrilled, but soon pukes in repulsion. Hyoh is annoyed.

On the way to intercept the Emperor, the party asks how Rain joined the Orders as Hyoh. He explains that after the events of Sacher, he failed to assassinate the Emperor and joined the Orders by the ruler's urging. Knowing he could not defeat him, Rain accepted. Dark Fina had taught him a spellblade technique to crystallize Fina's wound, so as to not endanger her life and show "proof" of his detachment.

The party saves Raegen's party from the Emperor and the Exostars under his command. Hyoh and Sol act in perfect sync leaving everyone amazed. Sol feigns to summon the Chaotic Darkness, and the Emperor retreats after using all of his power. Hyoh and Sol catch up with the weakened Emperor who summons more Exostars who are easily destroyed. The Emperor uses the power he had stored to control the Weapon, but Sol keeps his magic at bay. Sol and Hyoh defeat the Emperor, but before Hyoh can finish him, Levnato, the Alpha Star of the Orders, interferes, and unleashes a powerful magic attack. Sol takes the blow for Hyoh and Levnato teleports away with the Emperor.

Hyoh fruitlessly tries to heal Sol who accepts death, saying he has destroyed the one thing he hated the most: his own self devoid of emotion, as he has finally been able to feel something. He tells Hyoh to not lose his way and passes away, making him the last of the Sages of Hess to perish.

Spoilers end here.

Gameplay[]

Playable character[]

Sol is the first character to debut as a unit alongside a variant in the same banner. The Global version somewhat changes this with the arrival of Zeno of the Beta Star, although Sol had already debuted in the Japanese version by then, thus still making him the first to have this peculiarity.

Sol[]

Sol debuts is a Magic Damage unit. He has a base rarity of 5★ and can be upgraded to 7★. Sol can equip Daggers, Staves, Rods, Instruments, Maces, Light Shields, Hats, Helmets, Clothing, Light Armor, Robes, and Accessories. He can learn White, Black and Green Magic up to Lvl 8.

Sol is a powerful Magic Damage unit with a Focus on the Fire, Light and Dark elements. He can chain for all of them (with frames that match Trance Terra's Chaos Wave families), able to imperil these elements by 75% to enemies, or stack damage on them. He has a few non-elemental abilities, one of them from the Aureole Ray family, allowing for big chains. He can Dualcast these abilities and can even unlock Triple- and Quadcast through different means.

He has supportive abilities that boost his MAG and/or debuff enemies' SPR stat. He can bestow elemental resistance to the aforementioned elements and dualcast spells and comes with the likes of Reflect and Dispelga, making him utilitarian.

Sol's passives grant him major MAG boosts as well as Dual Wield and True Dual Wield boosts. He gains a respectable amount of HP/MP. If combined with his own Super Trust Reward, his MP consumption is even less, and he gains even larger MAG boost, making him remarkably stronger at little cost.

His Limit Burst, Chaotic Darkness, deals major damage and unlocks more potent multi-casting; if chained with a copy, it can be a used as a reliable source of damage. Sol was intended to have a CG-animated Limit Burst, but this was scrapped because his appearance was deemed too grotesque to be fully displayed.[citation needed] A proper CG-animation would debut in July 2020, almost two years after his unit introduction. Albeit for his Neo Vision variant, which redesigned him.

Heliarc[]

As Heliarc he is also a Magic Damage unit and has a base rarity of 4★ and can be upgraded into 6★. Heliarc can equip Daggers, Staves, Rods, Instruments, Maces, Light Shields, Hats, Helmets, Clothing, Light Armor, Robes, and Accessories. He can learn Black Magic up to Lvl 8.

Much unlike his rarer variant, Heliarc specializes purely in the Ice element damage, inflicted via abilities and spells being able to chain with the Octaslash and Freeze frame families. He can decrease Ice resistance to enemies, and increase it for allies, and is also able to restore MP to all allies.

Boss[]

Sol is infamous among Japanese version players, as he was considered abnormally difficult for a storyline battle. He was subsequently nerfed along with the Behemoth K and the Chaotic Darkness. This infamy reached the Global version with many players expressing just as much frustration. He was subsequently nerfed, but as of the Realm of the Dragon King update, Sol is back at full strength.

FFBE Sol Sprite

Sol is a recurring opponent in both Season One and Two. He's a difficult boss who abuses various spells. He begins by casting Reflect and Sage's Wisdom on himself and Imperilga on the party (before the updates, this was a Preemptive Strike). Sage's Wisdom is a stat buff that will boost his damage output if not handled. On every turn after that he will cast Dispelga on the party, regardless of whether he attacks or not. Later on he uses Execution, which damages the party and inflicts an ATK/MAG debuff.

He uses several spells, mostly Light-elemental, but can also use multiple Ja-tier spells in quick succession. After losing some of his HP he uses Ultima for devastating damage. When weakened he can cast Curaga to restore as much as 40% of his HP. At times he will use Dispelga, Imperilga and Execution in that order.

Sol has several thousand HP (usually 500,000+), increased resistance to all elements (+50%) except Light (+200%) and Dark (0%), and is immune to all status ailments. He is vulnerable to Stat Breaks.

Sol was briefly nerfed, but as of the Realm of the Dragon King update, he is back at full power, although this is only true for the first fight.

Strategy[]

The player should not attempt to use elemental attacks unless they are Dark or able to inflict elemental imperils that nullify or bypass Sol's defenses. Light is meaningless by nearly any measure as his resistance is too high (even if equipping weapons of multiple elements). Non-elemental and Dark attacks are the most reliable way to damage Sol. Since he has high HP, building a chain and capping it with a strong finisher is viable.

Buffs are not necessarily useless as they can be used to increase damage output, although they will soon be gone. If the player has Celes or uses the Manufacted Nethicite, they can keep Dispelga at bay since it will always be the first action Sol performs (however, they should use the Magic Absorption as the last move or it may absorb the player's own spells). Debuffs are another option, as Sol cannot dispel them, but they should be focused on decreasing his MAG and defensive stats.

Since Sol's strongest attacks are magical, Tanks will be useless, although Damage Reduction abilities will still work, provided the player can keep Dispelga at bay.

Other appearances[]

Final Fantasy Record Keeper[]

FFRK Sol FFBE

Sol made his debut during the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius collaboration event as both a single-player (Apocalypse) and multiplayer (Infernal) battle. In both fights, Sol's arsenal was almost entirely comprised of his original moveset.

Sage's Wisdom provided him a sizable ATK/MAG/DEF/RES buff. Imperilga reduced the elemental resistance of the party for all elements. Alongside his regular spells such as Holy, Ultima, Dispelga and various Ja-tier spells, Execution dealt dark magic damage and debuffed the party's ATK and MAG. Many of Sol's offensive spells also had upgraded versions that inflicted more damage, which he unleashed once his HP dropped low enough.

Etymology[]

Sol is the Latin and Spanish name of the main-sequence star of the synonymous Sol System, called the Sun in English.
