Can escape from opponents during battle
Description
Smoke Bomb is a battle item item in Final Fantasy VII that allows the party to flee from escapable battles. If used in the Battle Square, it acts as the "Give Up" option, but retains accumulated BP.

Smoke Bombs allow the player to flee instantly from most fights without worrying about using the Flee command or Escape spell. However, it is generally not difficult to run from random enemies and fixed battles and bosses cannot be escaped from, so the Smoke Bomb is usually not needed. The Master Tonberry is the exception, as it is usually difficult to run away from.
It is worth bringing some to the Battle Square and use on the final round if the opponent seems tough or the player is too handicapped. However, the player must not use a Smoke Bomb in the last battle of the round against Proud Clod in the Battle Square special match; this will net all the BPs as expected, but will not earn the Final Attack Materia.

Smoke Bomb is not a consumable item in Final Fantasy VII remake project, but in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Rufus Shinra uses a smoke bomb to leave the Musclehead Colosseum when he is losing, the game's version of the Gold Saucer Battle Square.
