Description
The slipstream saber is a weapon for Cloud in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It starts with maximum materia slots, and teaches Cloud the Counterstance ability, which costs one ATB charge and causes Cloud to counter an attack with a powerful attack of his own. The weapons attributes and weapon skills gear Cloud toward magic damage.

The slipstream saber is found in a treasure chest in chapter 13, "Where Angels Fear to Tread", in Temple of the Ancients. It is found on a stone platform right above the first climbable patch of green ivy in the Corridor of Trepidation on the Labyrinth Ceiling level.

Use[]
The slipstream saber gears Cloud toward magic damage. Though it has only a slightly higher Magic Attack than Attack Power boost, more importantly its weapon skills are geared toward recovering or improving his max MP. Cloud's MP and magic attack are already strong, so improving it simply makes him an even better spellcaster than he already is. However, it has less of a sacrifice to his physical damage than other abilities.
In contrast to 
Rune Blade and Crystal Sword, both with higher magic attack boosts than attack power, slipstream saber is more balanced than either. Crystal sword comes to boosts to Cloud's critical hit rate rather than MP regeneration, making it slightly weaker for spellcasting, but has better stats. The rune blade has some MP-improving weapon skills, but a much heavier bias toward magic damage, with the highest magic attack stat but lowest attack power stat of Cloud's weapons.
Of Cloud's other weapons, Buster Sword and Umbral Blade are his most balanced, with equal attack power and magic attack boosts.
