Cast/recast time formula:

Use[]

Sleep is a potent crowd control option capable of disabling multiple enemies in a single cast. When soloing content in can allow players to more safely engage multiple enemies, which can be life saving when attempting to solo content like The Palace of the Dead The Palace of the Dead.

In party content Sleep is less useful, as crowd control is rarely if ever needed as players generally prefer to just burn down groups of enemies with area of effect damage. Furthermore, above level 50, enemies in content accessed via Duty Finder are typically immune to Sleep, leaving the spell mostly used in the open world, Deep Dungeons and Exploratory Missions.

Sleep can potentially be used to interrupt casting if the target is vulnerable to the status, though its own cast time prevents it from being used reflexively barring Swiftcast Swiftcast or Triplecast Triplecast. If the opposing action has a long cast time, Sleep can be more safely used in this manner.

Enemies afflicted with Sleep will wake up upon taking any damage; the Sleep spell will cancel auto-attacks upon use in order to prevent the user from accidently waking the enemy up automatically.
