The Sledgehammer in Final Fantasy XII.
A simple large hammer made with a head and hilt of metal. Different from the war hammer, this particular weapon has a head that is flat on both striking points, allowing any momentum received from one side to be released in the form of a counterblow through the other. Unfortunately, great physical strength is required to wield the sledgehammer, reducing the number of warriors who use this weapon. On the other hand, miners have been known to use it as a tool while working in tunnels.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[]
The Sledgehammer is the second strongest hammer, with Thor's Hammer being the strongest. It provides 90 Attack, 30% Accuracy, +5 Strength, and can inflict Confusion when attacking with it. It is found on the last floor of Kain's Challenge Dungeon.
Final Fantasy XII[]
The Sledgehammer is a mid-ranked hammer that in the original PlayStation 2 version provides 77 Attack, 7% Combo Rate, +2 Evade, and a 20% chance to inflict Disable on hit. It has average attack speed. It requires the Axes & Hammers 3 License, which costs 25 LP to obtain, and can be bought for 7,500 gil at the Mosphoran Highwaste and Phon Coast.
In the Zodiac versions, it now provides 66 Attack, 2 Evade, 32 CT, 8% combo rate, has a 20% chance of inflicting Disable, and requires the Axes & Hammers 4 license for 50 LP. It can be bought in Mt Bur-Omisace for 6,000 gil, found as a treasure in Barheim Passage (The Zeviah Span), and Paramina Rift (Silverflow's End), and rarely drops from Tyranorox (1% chance) and Humbaba (1% chance).
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift[]
The Sledgehammer is the second strongest hammer, being bested by the Mjolnir. It provides 52 Attack, 10 Resist, and teaches the ability Pillage to Vikings for 350 AP and the ability Oil to Green Mages for 250 AP. It can be obtained in the Bazaar by getting Solid Hammers C.
