Description
Skill (技, Waza?, lit. Technique) is one of the four main commands found in Final Fantasy X. All abilities found in the Skill command will deliver a physical attack with an additional effect for the cost of MP. Most Skill abilities are found on the Wakka and Auron sections of the Sphere Grid. Most Skill abilities are Rank 3 abilities, and therefore have the same recovery time as a normal attack, however some of the Skill abilities found in the Auron section of the Sphere Grid have a longer recovery time, and the Quick Hit ability is a quicker version of a normal attack. A number of Skill abilities serve the same function as Special abilities but with an additional physical attack and MP cost.
There are 22 Skill abilities in total, however only 16 appear in the original Japanese and NTSC releases. Skill abilities found in the Wakka section of the Sphere Grid are status-inflicting attacks. Final Fantasy X is notable for having fewer status-inflicting magic, and most of the core statuses can only be inflicted on opponents via Skill abilities. Skill abilities in the Auron section of the Sphere Grid are primarily "Break" abilities which reduce the stats of the target.
A number of Skill abilities appear in the Rikku section of the Sphere Grid and are relevant to thievery. A number of Skill abilities in Tidus section of the Sphere Grid and are relevant to time. In the PAL, International, HD Remaster versions there are Extract abilities which inflict a status on opponents which forces them to drop a specific type of Sphere. Each one is found in a different section of the Sphere Grid.
