The Sirensong Sea is a dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood.
Story[edit | edit source]
With the aid of Captain Carvallain and his Misery, you and your companions have embarked on a lengthy voyage to the Far East. Alas, no voyage across the five seas is entirely uneventful. The ship has been dragged off-course by a mysterious force, and the men have begun to whisper of strange “things” in the water. Needless to say, you and your fellow adventurers will be having none of that. Once the ship reaches its unknown destination, you will go ashore and deal with whatever fiends you find.
While the Scions traveled to Kugane aboard the vessel of the Kraken's Arms, the vessel was suddenly seized by otherworldly forces diverting its course to a cursed island. The Warrior of Light sets off to eliminate the nuisance responsible for the attack, Lorelei, so they may resume their voyage to the Far East.

After two waves are defeated, the boat collides with a small island. The Scions remain behind to guard the boat while the party crosses the bow onto Spae Rock. After fending off more creatures, the first boss, Lugat, is confronted.
The party then heads into the wreckage of numerous ships, some ensorcelled with void fires. Crossing the myriad wreckage, fighting seabirds, sea monsters, and a literal skeleton crew on the way, the party encounters The Governer, a towering specter with power over shadows. Defeating him allows them to enter a small dungeon where many undead souls are imprisoned by an otherworldly warden. Crossing into a rocky path, they will encounter the Fleshless Captive, a wraith that tries charm the party before hitting them with Flood.
Once the wraith is defeated, they may enter the Glowering Krautz, where the mastermind behind the incident awaits: Lorelei. This voidsent's bewitched voice will force the party to move forward or backwards, requiring caution to avoid the pools of voidtouched tears she places as a trap. Etymology[edit | edit source]
Sirens are from Greek mythology. In the story of Odysseus, the Sirens are beautiful women who lure sailors with their voices. Odysseus escaped the Sirens by having all his sailors plug their ears with beeswax. He was curious as to what the Sirens sounded like, so he let himself be tied to the mast to ensure he could not fall victim to their voices.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- This is the only dungeon to not have a defined region, with the introduction cinematic merely listing it as "???", though its musical theme is based on "On Westerly Winds," the theme of the region of La Noscea. In Encyclopedia Eorzea Volume 2, it is listed as Thavnairian geography, and the prison complex is said to have been constructed by the Radz-at-Han government.
- This is one of the few multiplayer instances to have friendly NPCs fighting alongside players.
- Despite the name and the dungeon it draws inspiration from, no sirens appear in the dungeon.
