Siren (セイレーン, Seirēn?) is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series typically encountered as a boss or summoned monster. Often portrayed as a beautiful woman who plays a harp, her attacks usually focus on inflicting Silence on the opponent, but they sometimes also do minor damage.
Appearances[]

She deceives the party into letting their guard down to steal their souls by impersonating Stella Klauser and King Tycoon, but her attempt to ensnare Galuf by impersonating a girl fails when Galuf cannot remember her due to his amnesia. Galuf snaps the other party members out of their trances, and the Siren takes a more direct approach to taking care of the party.

Siren has had several alterations made to her sprites across releases due to censorship, as in the original Japanese release her buttocks is completely exposed. The PlayStation release uses the original uncensored sprite.

Etymology[]
Sirens are from Greek mythology. In the story of Odysseus, the Sirens are beautiful women who lure sailors with their voices. Odysseus escaped the Sirens by having all his sailors plug their ears with beeswax. He was curious as to what the Sirens sounded like, so he let himself be tied to the mast to ensure he could not fall victim to their voices.
