Final Fantasy Explorers description
Sing (うたう or 歌う, Utau?), also known as Bardsong, is a command ability usually associated with the Bard job class. Depending on the song that is sung, Sing usually supports the party in some way, either by applying a status effect to the whole party, or temporarily raising their attributes for the remainder of battle. Some songs apply negative status effects to enemies, for example Lullaby inflicts Sleep.
Sing is usually disabled if the character is inflicted by Silence.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy III[]
Sing is used by the Bard job class. In the NES version, Bards use their Sing ability to attack the enemy with the currently equipped harp, possibly inflicting a status effect depending on the harp. In the 3D versions, each harp gives a different song: most support the whole party with protective spells, and one deals damage to all enemies.
Final Fantasy IV[]
Edward can use Bardsong. In the 2D versions, he needs to equip a harp, but in the 3D versions this is not required since everyone can equip the Bardsong Augment. Bardsongs strengthen and heal the party or inflict status ailments on opponents.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[]
Edward is the only character with the Bardsong command. A harp is required to be equipped on Edward if the player wishes to use it.
Final Fantasy V[]
Sing is the level 3 ability for the Bard job class, as well as their default job command. It is learned for 100 ABP. The songs' effects range from boosting the party's stats to inflicting enemies with negative statuses and hurting undead enemies.
Final Fantasy X-2[]
Sing is usable by the Songstress dressphere. Its abilities raise the party's stats. Using any of the top four songs will bestow the respective Stat +1 status on the party, and this can be stacked up to 10 times for Stat +10. Perfect Pitch and Matador's Song on the other hand give Accuracy +10 or Evasion +10 with a single use and cannot be stacked further.
Final Fantasy XI[]
Singing's effect is boosted by Soul Voice, its duration is boosted by Troubadour, and its casting time is reduced by Nightingale.

Final Fantasy Tactics[]
Bardsong is the Bard job class's skillset whose abilities boost all allied units' stats from anywhere on the field. The songs repeat based on how many turns the initial Charge Time was.
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift[]

Pictlogica Final Fantasy[]
Final Fantasy Record Keeper[]
Bard is an ability type which focuses on a variety of songs, most of them raising party's stats, although there are also some which inflict damage and afflict status ailments on enemies.
While Garnet and Yuna lack access to Bard abilities, several of their Soul Breaks refer to singing: Garnet's Song of Memories and Enveloping Warmth, the latter which is named after the Japanese name of Final Fantasy IX track "Thy Warmth", and Yuna's Hymn of the Fayth, Tenets of the Fayth, which in the Japanese is called "Gospel of the Fayth", and Song for Spira.
Final Fantasy Explorers[]
