Silence is a status in Final Fantasy. It is primarily associated with the Spirit element.

Content in italics is exclusive to the Dawn of Souls and/or 20th Anniversary releases.

Mechanics[]

Silence prevents the victim from casting spells. In the NES release, Silence additionally prevents the use of items, item magic, and enemy abilities. Silence is automatically removed at the end of battle.

As with other statuses, it is only possible to be immune to the Silence condition in the Pixel Remaster release; in prior releases, the most one can do is resist the element of an attack that inflicts the status, reducing its accuracy. Even if a target is listed as resisting Silence, this is in reference to the element, rather than effects that can inflict Silence.
