FFVII Silence status

Silence (ちんもく(沈黙), Chinmoku?, lit. Silence) is a status in Final Fantasy VII that disables Magic, E.Skill, W-Magic, Summon, and W-Summon commands. This is a more harmful status in party members than on enemies a lot of the time. Afflicted party members are slouched over with a thought bubble with "..." above their heads. The item dedicated to healing Silence is Echo Screen. Silence does not last after battle.

Enemies[]

The following enemies are immune to Silence. All bosses are immune, except Dark Nation, Pyramid, and Sample:H0512-opt.

Use[]

Silence has little practical use, due to how easy it is to defeat most enemies without it. The following enemies may be worth using Silence on:

If the player has leveled up Elemental to LV2, they can exploit the Hidden element of the Dorky Faces' Curses and Funny Breath attacks by linking Elemental with any non-elemental Materia on the party's armor to protect against these attacks. Players do not gain an immunity to the statuses used; instead, the chance of inflicting the status is dropped to 0, and the word "Miss" will appear above their head, indicating that they are still vulnerable. A level 1 Elemental would halve the chances of the abilities inflicting their statuses, as opposed to nullifying them.
