Silence is a status in Final Fantasy IX. Silence seals Blk Mag, Wht Mag, Blu Mag, and Summon commands. The afflicted has a speech bubble above their head with an ellipsis inside. Silence persists after battle, until cured, unless using Guardian Mog.

Healing[]
Silence is healed with Echo Screen, Remedy, Angel's Snack, and Esuna. Staying at an inn or using a healing spring also fully restores the party. Entering Trance purges all ailments besides Virus, but does not make one immune.

Use[]
Silence can be used to make enemies unable to use magic. The Silence spell can work on the following bosses where Dagger or Eiko can be present: Hilgigars, Red Dragon, Taharka, Silver Dragon, Garland, Nova Dragon, and Tiamat. Even for battles where the Silence magic is unavailable, the player can use Tents on the boss to randomly inflict them with Silence.
