Silena in Final Fantasy XIV (Legacy).
Silena (サイレナ, Sairena?) is a recurring spell in the Final Fantasy series, appearing only in the online installments of the series. It is a recovery spell that cures the Silence status, being a substitute for the recurring Vox spell.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy XI[]
Silena is a White Magic spell available only to White Mages at level 19 and Scholars at level 22. It removes the Silence and Mute debuffs from one targeted player or ally.
By default, Silena's scroll can be bought in either Lower Jeuno and Al Zahbi for 2,330 gil. In addition, it can also be purchased from the player Auction House under the White Magic category or can be obtained at random from the Gobbie Mystery Box exchange.
Silena can also be used by Puppetmaster Automations with a Magic Skill of 60. In addition, it can be used by several Trust characters, such as Karaha-Baruha and the King of Hearts.
Final Fantasy XIV (Legacy)[]

Silena appeared as an ability in the original version. During the initial release, Silena was a spell learned by Conjurers at rank 28. The ability cost 2 actions points to set and cost 24 MP to use. When used, the ability would remove the silence status from party members within an area of effect.
After the release of patch 1.20, Silena was removed and replaced with the Esuna spell.

Behind the scenes[]
During the development process and the game's original Beta for Final Fantasy XI, Silena was originally named Vocal (ボキャル, Bokyaru?), which is the Japanese name for the recurring Vox White Magic spell. For the official release, the spell had its name changed to Silena to match the naming scheme for the other status healing White Magics. [citation needed]

Etymology[]
The Japanese name サイレス (Sairesu?, lit. Silece) derives from the transliteration of the word "silence" into Japanese (サイレンス, sairensu?), but with the ン (n?) removed to follow the four-character Japanese naming scheme for spells.
The suffix -na is derived from Japanese Naoshi (
