Shortbow (ショートボウ, Shōtobō?), or Short Bow, is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is usually one of the weakest, if not the weakest bow, in the games that it appears in, providing little in the ways of attack power.

Final Fantasy XI[]

Shortbow is an archery weapon that provides 5 damage and 360 Delay. It deals 0.83 damage per second and accumulates 93 TP per hit. It can be equipped by level 1 Warrior, Red Mage, Thief, Paladin, Dark Knight, Beastmaster, Ranger, Samurai, and Ninja.

It can be bought for 39 - 48 gil from Thadiene in Southern San d'Oria (K-7), Chaupire in Northern San d'Oria (E-3), Mono Nchaa in Windurst Woods (H-13), Dehbi Moshal in Al Zahbi (G-10), and Wata Khamazom in Nashmau (H-9). It can also be bought for 50 Sparks of Eminence from Isakoth in Bastok Markets (E-11), Rolandienne in Southern San d'Oria (G-10), Fhelm Jobeizat in Windurst Woods (J-10), and Eternal Flame in Western Adoulin (H-11).

Final Fantasy XII[]

The Shortbow is the weakest bow. In the original PlayStation 2 version, it provides17 attack and 5% critical. It is Fran's initial weapon, but can also be bought for 500 gil at Barheim Passage, Bhujerba, and Rabanastre. It requires the Bows 1 license to equip.

In the Zodiac versions, it now provide 15 Attack, 36 CT, 5% critical, and requires the Bows 1 license for 20 LP. It can be bought in Rabanastre, Giza Plains - The Dry, and Barheim Passage for 450 gil, found as a treasure in Dalmasca Estersand (Banks of the Nebra), drops by Slaven in the Giza Plains - The Dry (3% chance), and is made in the bazaar for 400 gil after selling Bat Fang x1, Rat Pelt x2, and Dark Stone x2. It is initially equipped to Fran. It can be used by her and by the Archer License Board.

An ordinary bow used as a tool for hunting wild game. Although originally built for purposes of daily life, it wasn't long until the bow was used to strike menacing beasts from a safe distance during their constant attacks. It is fairly easy to use without proper training, but its flaws lies in its lack of power. However, it is still effective against flying monsters.

Description

Short Bow is a bow that provides 18 ATK, +50% physical damage against Birds, grants +70% accuracy, has a damage range of 125-175%, and requires both hands to wield. It can be bought for 260 gil at Town of Mitra, Royal Capital Grandshelt, and Port City Lodin, crafted by using 52 gil, x3 Wind Crysts, x1 Raptor Feather, and x5 Lumbers, and or found at Ordol Port.
