The Shooting Star (シューティングスター, Shūtingu Sutā?) is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is generally the strongest blaster edge weapon. It first appeared in Final Fantasy VIII as Rinoa Heartilly's ultimate weapon.

The Shooting Star is the ultimate weapon for Rinoa, and provides 28 attack and 107 hit rate. It is obtained through the junk shop by paying 1,000 gil and using Windmills x2, a Regen Ring, a Force Armlet, and Energy Crystal x2.
Dissidia Final Fantasy (2008)[]
The Shooting Star is the level 100 exclusive weapon for Ultimecia, and provides +307 HP, +67 Attack, +1 Defense, EX Force Absorption +30%, and the Back to the Wall effect. It can be obtained from the shop by trading 31,920 gil, Cardinal, Gears of Time x5, and Light Orb x5.

The Shooting Star is a level 100 exclusive weapon for Ultimecia, and provides +327 HP, -80 Bravery, +68 Attack, +1 Defense, EX Force Absorption +10%, and the Back to the Wall effect. It can be obtained from the shop by trading 182,800 gil, Cardinal, Gears of Time, and Witch's Hope x5.

Shooting Star (VIII) is a BT weapon for Rinoa, enabling access to the finishing burst, Wings of the Heart. It provides 94 HP, 45 DEF, 399 INT BRV, 3840 Max BRV, 1313 ATK, and adds 130-160 CP.
Pictlogica Final Fantasy[]
Shooting Star is a rarity 7 Throwing that provides a minimum of 153 Attack and 18 Magic, a maximum of 225 Attack and 63 Magic, is Holy-elemental, Limit Break +3000, increases the Critical rate of Dance and Encore Dance by 30%, and increases magic damage by 30% when Comet is used. It can only be equipped by Rinoa (No.390).
Shooting Star is a rarity 6 Wave that provides a minimum of 87 Attack, 38 HP, 12 Speed, and 87 Magic, and a maximum of 118 Attack, 100 HP, 52 Speed, and 125 Magic. It can only be equipped by Ultimecia.

Etymology[]
Shooting star is a common name for the visible path of a meteoroid as it enters the atmosphere to become a meteor. There exists a widespread superstition that a wish made on a shooting star will come true.
The Shooting Star weapon refers to Rinoa in its name and looks: Rinoa is associated with angels with the angel wing design on the back of her duster and her Angel Wing Limit Break, and upon her first and last sightings in the game points at a shooting star.
