An ice-element summon recreated in virtual reality. It is the manifestation of a queen who once healed the planet's wounds with ice, as evidenced by the existence of permafrost in the polar lands.

Enemy Intel

Shiva is an optional boss in Final Fantasy VII Remake fought as part of Chadley's Battle Intel to earn her as a Summoning Materia Summoning Materia. The player can first challenge her by finding Chadley in the Sector 5 Slum's Central District in Chapter 8, "Budding Bodyguard", and take Shiva on with Cloud alone, or with Cloud and Aerith together. The player can wait 'til later and face Shiva with a three-person party as well, though Cloud and Aerith should be able to handle her as a pair.

Shiva is also fought in the gauntlet up to Pride and Joy Prototype in the Shinra Combat Simulator in Chapter 17 during hard mode.

Battle[]

Shiva is an Ice Ice boss who is weak to Fire Fire. She moves quickly around the battlefield, and only use ice attacks, many of them home directly on the player character. She can also inflict Sleep Sleep and Slow Slow with some of her attacks. She can summon three orbs that negate magic damage.

At quarter health, Shiva will use Diamond Dust that deals extreme ice damage and is unavoidable. Following that, some of her attacks become stronger, such as Heavenly Strike now dropping three blocks of ice in quick succession instead of one.

She can be afflicted with Silence Silence, which will prevent her from casting Blizzara Blizzara and Blizzaga Blizzaga.

Strategy[]

The party should equip the Fire Materia Fire Materia, and if possible, pair it with Elemental Materia Elemental Materia in Cloud's weapon to improve his normal attacks. Ifrit is the best summon to bring and fire spells are the best magic to use. Another use of elemental materia is to pair it with Ice Materia Ice Materia in armor to resist ice damage, as all of Shiva's attacks are ice-elemental. Aerith is the party's best magic user, and can be helped further with some MP Up Materia MP Up Materia and Magic Up Materia Magic Up Materia.

In battle, the party can focus on casting Fire Fire or Fira Fira against Shiva to deal considerable damage, and pressure her, as she can take significant damage when staggered. Casting spells from within Aerith's Arcane Ward makes them cast twice. If Shiva becomes immune to magic damage, the player can switch to Cloud and use physical attacks until the orbs on the field disappear. If the player has it, Manaward Manaward can be used to halve magical damage. When Shiva is getting close to quarter health, the player should keep their HP topped up in preparation for Shiva's Diamond Dust.

Chapter 17[]

Shiva in Top Secrets from FFVII Remake

Shiva during "Top Secrets".

Shiva is part of the hard mode gauntlet to the Pride and Joy Prototype superboss. The first battle is against her, a more challenging version of the fight from Chadley's regular challenge. She will use Frost Familiars immediately after being hit by a spell. Fire spells should still be used to stagger her and deal considerable damage as before, but should be used relentlessly to stagger her before she can get up and use Frost Familiars. She is not immune to Stop Stop, which can be used to lock her Pressured state in, and then use Firaga spells to greatly raise her stagger. When Shiva summons Frost Familiars, she will avoid spell damage until all familiars are destroyed; the party can use low-level spells to get rid of them before casting higher tier spells again. Shiva will inflict Slow often, but casting Haste Haste counteracts it.

The best strategy is to stagger Shiva, and defeat her in a single stagger. If Tifa is in the party, she can use True Strike to raise Shiva's stagger bonus damage. Cloud can use Infinity's End on a staggered Shiva. If Aerith is in the party, she can have the Synergy Materia Synergy Materia to follow up with a spell whenever Cloud and Tifa use ATB commands; this is especially good in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, where synergy does not cost MP.
