Shinra Beta is an armor in Final Fantasy VII. Its "upgrade" is known as the Shinra Alpha.

Shinra Beta can be stolen from the Marine on the Cargo Ship during "Dangerous Voyage", and if the player does not obtain the Shinra Beta from the Marine, it is still possible to win it from the Submarine Crew during "Clash in the Deep Sea", but if not obtained from either enemy, the armor is permanently missed.

Shinra Beta provides the best Defense of any armor at the point in the game it is earliest available, although the Carbon Bangle provides more Magic Defense at the cost of 3 less Defense. In addition, it provides one additional unlinked Materia slot. If the player wishes for more Magic Defense, then the Carbon Bangle is a better pick, and if the player wishes for Double Materia growth, they can use the Platinum Bangle buyable shortly after the Cargo Ship.

Shinra Beta is named after Shinra Electric Power Company, as some of its military troops use it. Beta (uppercase Β, lowercase β; Greek: Βήτα Bḗta) is the second letter of the Greek alphabet.
