Shinji Hashimoto (橋本 真司, Hashimoto Shinji?) is a former corporate advisor of Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. and a former video game producer, executive officer, senior member of the board of directors, and executive director of Square Enix Co., Ltd.[1] He was also the general manager of the Media & Arts Business Division and was the division executive of Business Division 3.[2][3]
Hashimoto is the former brand manager of the Final Fantasy series before being taken over by Yoshinori Kitase in April 2021.[4] In May 2021, he announced that he would be stepping down as executive director and would serve as corporate advisor.[5] On May 31, 2022, he announced that he would be retiring that day.[6][7]
Previously working for Bandai, Hashimoto joined Square Co., Ltd. in April 1995 and he was in charge of the business and marketing aspects of the Final Fantasy series. More recently, he had also served as the executive producer of a number of Final Fantasy games. He is the producer of Final Fantasy XV (2016), which will make it his first solo Final Fantasy production since Final Fantasy VIII (1999).
