The Shield Attack bug is a bug in the Game Boy Advance version of Final Fantasy II.
If a character is wielding a weapon in one hand and a shield in the other, hits are calculated for both the weapon and shield. Any successful "hits" from the shield are added into the number of hits displayed when attacking, though they will do no damage. This can cause attacks to appear to land more hits than a character's weapon skill would allow. This is especially apparent when using the Ripper, which inflicts 20 extra damage per hit, but will often inflict less extra damage than is expected while using a shield at the same time.
