Shellga serves as final version of the Shell spell, granting increased magical defense for all party members in combat. Titles with magic types often categorize Shellga as either a White Magic or Green Magic spell. Its physical defense parallel is the recurring Protectga spell.
The spell's name derives from the magic tier system, using the -ga (ガ, ga?) suffix. The spell made its first formal appearance in Final Fantasy XII, being a late tier Green Magick spell. Unlike its later incarnations, the original version required players to be within range of the spellcaster to be affected.
In the Zodiac versions, Shellga is a White Magick spell, its license being White Magick 12 that costs 110 LP. The spell itself cannot be bought, and only found in the Great Crystal in Giruvegan. It can be used by the White Mage, Monk, and Shikari. Monk must acquire the Esper Chaos license and Shikari the Esper Cúchulainn.
Shellga is a spell only Basch can cast. It increase Magick Defense of all allies in range.
Shellga is a command-type ability for the Synergist role that bestows the Shell status to all party members, with a base duration of 30. It can be learned by Noel (role level 21), Gigantuar (59), Imp (29), Luminous Puma (18), Oannes (45), and Triffid (46). It has an ATB cost of 3 and can be infused into other Synergist monsters.
It is also an enemy ability used by Proto fal'Cie Adam.
Shellga is a White Magic ability with a Rarity of 4☆. It gives all targets Shell, doubling Resistance, it can initially be used four times and it can be honed to Rank 5. It can be created by using Greater White Orb x5, Greater Earth Orb x3, Greater Holy Orb x3 and 10000 gil.
