Shell is a status in Final Fantasy X-2 that temporarily halves magic damage and healing, unless permanently in place via Auto-Shell. Its physical damage counterpart is Protect. Some attacks deal "typeless" damage that is mitigated by neither Protect nor Shell. Numerous dresspheres have the means of bestowing the status to protect the party.
