History[]

Early Life[]

Born after the fusion of their land and taken care of by the townspeople, she became an engineer before being reassigned to leading the croplands in Yyuype's Halo. The former engineer checks on the pylons without a bodyguard but along the way she finds herself in trouble from an electric hound, she may have lost some of her souls but is saved by an adventurer tasked to check on her by Nakente the coin keeper who worried for her safety. Back in town she tells them why she went there, and it was because she noticed the crops thinning throughout the years that may stop the crops from growing entirely over time. Shaloaci asks the adventurer to be her bodyguard while also seeing the crop for themselves. Nakente pulls the adventurer to the side to talk about payment while Shaloaci meets them at the southern bridge.

She asks the adventurer what their first thoughts were of the fields were when they walked through them with Wuk Lamat, telling them to be honest. Asking how they farm in such weather, she doesn't realize it's an issue, and tells them the history of Yyasulani's name, and how the electrope pylons keeps the farm going, converting energy into different elements. She asks them to split up and examine the soil itself and the adventurer finds a muffling crackling sound underneath the soil, and they find a beeping measurement device and report papers in a box. The letter addressed to Shaloaci from the farm's founder Yyupye describes how the crops yields will weaken if the same crops are planted in the same place repeatedly. Excited and confused how the founder knows her, she wants to read everything and have them tell Nakente.

Shaloaci discovers that Yyupye was a shetona woman with a solution to their problem left at Yyasulani Station, the report describes an infestation of exorays; a toxic slime mold. Shaloaci converses with the adventurer about Tesh'pyani, her education in Everkeep, and memories of the railway walking hand in hand with a grown up. They arrive at the station and in a cupboard find a special transformer that will force the fungi out of the ground and says that her mother is brilliant for coming up with a plan years in advance. She reveals she discovered an official document with the report where upon Yyupye's death her child would be given full control of the farm after turning into an adult. She vows to continue her mother's legacy and get rid of the infestation.

After a short rest they meet at the southern bridge where she will put the transformer in the control tower and the adventurer would exterminate any monsters that pop out after she gives them a signal. With the Exorays defeated, the reconvene with Nakente near the bridge, and Nakente tells her to follow whatever she wishes instead of the farm, but she states that it is her dream to take care of her people, and the crops can feed those in need. They thank the adventurer for helping and caring them, and hopes they clear their schedule the next time she's out by the station.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Shaloaci is a dark skinned shetona with red hair and pale-yellow eyes, she wears a marsh green craftsmen's coverall top with an orange shirt underneath, field fiends halfgloves dyed a cork brown, marsh green snow cotton breeches and jet black swallowskin boots.

Personality[]

Shaloaci has a close relationship with Nakente, although she considers her to be a nag, and someone who talks her ear off, she is someone who she cares for and helped raise her. Compassionate for people, she took up the role of engineer to make life easier for everyone and this motivates her to solve their problems. She has a lack of self-confidence believing that she is ordinary compared to her brilliant mother and won't be able to care for all the halo's needs, as its previous caretakers have. Often nostalgic, she recalls her memories of a child as being dreamlike, and how her life seems like a storybook, but understands her responsibilities as the inheritor of the farm. She cares for those around her, worrying for the adventurer's safety when fighting the Noble Exoray fungi, and her townspeople with the crops.
