Shadowblade (シャドーブレイド or シャドーブレード, Shadō Bureido?), also known as Shadow Blade or Darkness, is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is often a Dark-elemental sword used by the Dark Knight or Warrior jobs, and is oftentimes a low-ranked weapon.

Final Fantasy IV[]
Shadowblade (Sword of Darkness in the Easy Type version) is the second weapon available for Dark Knight Cecil, and provides 20 Attack and 35 Accuracy. This weapon is metallic. It can be found in the Antlion's Den, Underground Waterway or in a hidden chest inside the Sealed Cave in the releases prior to Final Fantasy Chronicles.
In the 3D versions, it has an attack power of 20 with an Accuracy of 90 with the same properties as the 2D versions. Dark Knight Cecil can equip it, and if Golbez is hacked into the party, he'll be able to equip it as well.

Shadowblade is a dummied weapon that would have provided 20 Attack and be Dark-elemental, and would have been usable by Dark Kain.

Shadowblade (IV) is a LD Greatsword for Dark Knight Cecil that enables access to the LD ability, Soul Eater, as well as the abilities Mighty Soul Eater, New Moon Mysteries Longer, and Charged Soul Eater. It provides 103 HP, 55 DEF, 264-339 iBRV, 2910-3360 mBRV, 994-1144 ATK, and adds 90-100 CP.

Shadowblade is a rarity 6 sword that provides a minimum of 107 Attack and 5 Magic, a maximum of 160 Attack and 20 Magic, increases the power of the user's Dark-elemental attacks, and is Dark-elemental. It can be upgraded to rarity 7 where it provides a minimum of 135 Attack and 18 Magic, a maximum of 207 Attack and 45 Magic, increases the power of the user's Dark-elemental attacks, is Dark-elemental, and Limit Break +3000.

Etymology[]
A shadow is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object. It occupies all of the space behind an opaque object with light in front of it. To go with the light and dark theme of Final Fantasy IV, Shadowblade is associated with Dark Knight Cecil, Golbez, and Dark Kain.
