The Shadow is an enemy in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, fought in the Subterrane. Shadows are generally minor nuisances, attacking with regular attacks for average damage. However, if left alone a Shadow will continuously cast Death on each of its turn. Regular attacks, Quake, or Fire-elemental and Holy-elemental spells and weapons will defeat them quickly.

A shadow is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object. It occupies all of the space behind an opaque object with light in front of it.
