A freewheeling gambler who built a casino aboard his ship. Long ago he aspired to create the fastest airship in the world, but he gave that dream up when he lost his friend and rival in an accident. Disheartened after losing his cherished airship during the world's destruction, his comrades convince him to rejoin their cause and once again travel the boundless canopy of the heavens.

Setzer is a playable character representing Final Fantasy VI in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. He can be recruited during the Lost Chapter Castles in the Sky.

Setzer has long silver hair, violet eyes, and a scarred face. He wears several layers of clothing under a black trench coat with a gold lining, and gold-tipped boots adorned in black, white, and red.

- Setzer's abilities are taken from his special moves in the original game. Red Card is his desperation attack and Prismatic Flash, Dive-Bomb and Joker's Death are taken from his Slots.
- The animation for Ace's FR ability has Setzer rolling the slot combination for Chocobo Stampede before Ace rides one of the summoned flock to attack.
- Setzer has Barret as his Force Mode partner. Both have lost their significant other in an incident of the past.
- The Force passive is called Raid from Above. This is a reference to the moment in Final Fantasy VII where the party parachutes into Midgar. Since Kefka's Tower is only accessible by airship, one could consider the party also makes a "raid from above" when entering it.
- Setzer is also partner to Ace in the latter's Force Time. Both use cards as their initial weapon. Coincidentally, the personal airship of Class Zero is called Setzer, after the character.
