Stats
After defeating Safer Sephiroth, Cloud Strife falls into the Lifestream and fights a metaphysical Sephiroth inside his own mind. This boss battle is completely cinematic, as evidenced by how all his stats are 0. Cloud will instantly gain the Limit Break Omnislash even if he has not learnt that skill from Gold Saucer's Battle Square. If Cloud does not use Omnislash, Sephiroth will attack for pitiful damage, to which Cloud will instantly counter and win the battle. It is impossible to lose. This final battle is as easy as the Final battle in Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 10-2

In the first battle, Sephiroth can summon four elemental Crystals, and can use the DMW attack, "Octoslash". He can also use "Heartless Angel" which knocks Zack's HP down to 1.

The crystals resist physical attacks but are vulnerable to spells of their opposite element. The elemental Materia cast spells based on their element up to -ga level, while the Support Materia heals Sephiroth and can use Barrier to half physical damage and Dispel to remove any buffs Zack places on himself. The crystals act and move independently of Sephiroth. If Zack is close enough, the Materia can exude magical energy to deal damage. The Materia can be interrupted from casting a spell by hitting them just after the ability they were about to use has been revealed.

Etymology
Now Zack is standing on a long platform and can only attack Sephiroth from the front. After every attack Sephiroth uses, Zack is knocked back further and further. If Zack is pushed off the platform, it is Game Over. Because of this, Sephiroth is generally easier this time and does not Summon the four Crystals.

First battle

Sephiroth summons four elemental crystals: the Fire Materia, the Blizzard Materia, the Thunder Materia, and the Support Materia. The crystals have plentiful health and are immune to the elements that compose them, though the Support Materia resists elemental spells only slightly.

Sephiroth often teleports around and it is hard to catch him from behind as he simply turns. Sephiroth will wait for the player to attack before swiftly landing either a 2-hit or 4-hit combo. He can use the Digital Mind Wave (DMW) attack, Octaslash, and his classic Heartless Angel attack, which knocks Zack's HP down to 1. He also uses Draw Slash to create a wide slash of energy.

Second battle

Zack stands on a long platform and can only attack Sephiroth from the front. Sephiroth's attacks knock Zack back further. The battle is lost if Zack is pushed off the platform. Sephiroth is easier this time and does not summon the four crystals.

Etymology

Səphīrōth (סְפִירוֹת, medieval Hebrew form of Sephirot; also spelled Sefirot), is a plural noun in Hebrew; the singular is Sephirah (also spelled Sefira). The Sephiroth are described in the Kabbalah as the manifestations of God that allow Him to manifest in the physical and metaphysical universes. Sephiroth also means "counting" (of numbers).
