She used to live happily in Galahd with her family, her mother and her brother Nyx. Galahd was attacked by Niflheim forces and Selena was killed. Nyx and her mother survived. Her brother felt responsible for her fate and he decided to move to Insomnia and join Kingsglaive. She's his motivation over his whole life.
