Scourge (ブレイクバースト, Bureiku Bāsuto?, lit. Break Burst) is a support ability from Final Fantasy XIII. It is associated with the Commando role, and appears throughout the subseries. It generally deals significantly increased physical damage to a target that is about to recover from stagger.

Deal heavy damage with Attack to target about to recover from stagger.
Description
Scourge is a Commando auto-ability assigned to the Attack command ability, which deals a large amount of damage to a target that is 2.4 seconds or less away from recovering from stagger. It can be learned by Lightning (Crystarium stage 6), Sazh (stage 6), Snow (stage 6), Vanille (stage 7), Hope (stage 7), and Fang (stage 6).
Scourge has a damage multiplier of 5.0, making it over four times stronger than Attack. Fang's Scourge attack consists of two hits at half power, while Snow's Scourge has a knockback effect, and Vanille's Scourge increases the chain gauge and duration by the same amount as Attack.
Scourge delays the end of the stagger period until the move finishes, though it can still activate after the period ends. Depending on the timing, multiple Scourge attacks can be performed by one character at the end of a stagger period.
